IN THE WIND P36 Rea Continues With Kawasaki F ive-time WorldSBK Champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) has renewed his contract with the Kawasaki Racing Team on a multiple-season deal. The 33-year-old Ulsterman has been with Kawa- saki since 2015 and won every WorldSBK title since. He's achieved 74 wins for KRT, making him the most successful rider not just for a single manufac- turer but also in WorldSBK history, becoming the first rider to achieve five titles in 2019 while also equaling the all-time win tally in one season with 17. "I am super happy to sign a new contract with Kawasaki and KRT," Rea said. "What we have achieved together is incredible; our success is driven by a great team and of course the base of the project—our Ninja ZX-10RR. I will keep work- ing hard, together with my crew, the engineers at Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) to be in the best condition for every single race. This period away from racing has reignited a burning desire to keep winning and continue to improve my skills and the package of our bike." CN 2020 Sturgis Rally Confirmed T he 2020 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has been confirmed for August 7-16. This will be the 80th annual event and it "will have significant changes to city-sponsored events with the intention of safe- guarding the community and residents," according to the release issued by the city. The Sturgis city council approved the event with an 8-1 vote, which took place after in-depth consideration of all the issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic and guidelines. The Black Hills surrounding Sturgis, South Dakota serve as a regular summer destination for thou- sands of motorcycle enthusi- asts each year and serve as a platform for a lot of motorcycle OEM's and after- market companies show off their latest products. CN Kawasaki and Rea will continue working together for the next couple of years. The 2020 Sturgis Rally is still on.
