The 250 Novice race was a thriller . with big Kenn y Rodriguez and Chris McManu s goi ng at it heavily . Rodriguez won both m ot os and ·also took a first in the Six Ra ce Series. The 125 Expert class wa s also a good ra ce . T he Greener brothers had the gas o n. with Greg taking first and Rodney second. Joey Schlag came in third . tryi ng to pass on every .co rner . and stra ig h ta way . But Schlag had it all together in the 250 Expert race . winning over Rick Lew is. Mike U nder hill took the Vets Novice class and a lso won the Series with hi s po int lead . Kim Br itz has now won two weeks in a row in the powder pu ff competi ti on . ( Poo r Jammin ' Joyce su ffering from a bad su n bu rn . had to ride Friday night to guarantee her Series win . and that she did .) Ph il Anderson won the Mini Money race, sponsored by Dennis Houser, o n th e RM80 . The M ini Intermediate ra ce was a goodone . Houser won th e first moto and after a duel with Gary Johnson in th e second moto , had the lead but fell on the fa mous slippery corn er of the night , giving Johnson the win . • Results in Resu lts Sect ion . JUNE 5 Lonnie Wright (H on) grabbed the holeshot in the first of two 125 Expert motos , but smooth riding John Stone (Suz) took over for Wright o n the third lap . with George Collingham ( ~ FM) tucking in behind Stone . About halfwa y through th e mo to , Stone's problems started when hi s seat decided t o _ pan company , followed closely by his handlebar's sudden case of the droops. But Stone held on for the win with Collingham claiming the second spot. The 250 Experts left the line with a giganti c roar , t hat saw Ke n n y Gollagoes (Ya m ) co m e OUI on top and never loo k back as he ra n away an d hid from the rest of the pack. Da n Taurman (Suz) picked u p second . with J ohn Sparks (Su z) taking third . The t he rmometer had m oved well into the 90s bv th e time th e second 125 Expert m ot o roll ed aro u nd . St one wasted no rim e esta bl ishing h ims elf as the to p rid er for t he day. But o n the th ird lap . t he Suzook lost its fire and Stone reti red . George Collingham m ot ored th e MFM Yamaha into the lead of a m oro that sa w th e 20-plus field shrink to a mere six by its close . jeff Sin sel (Ya m) took-second with a grea t ride . Rod Cahoon (Ya m ) ke p t his winni ng wa ys: outdistancing Don Copeland (Suz) in the 125 Novices. Matt Pemberton had a doubl e . winning both the 500 and 250 J uniors . Dennis Spence (C -A) had 10 perfect laps and edged Sal Hoffman (C- A) in the 250 Expert event. Matt Crowley ( Bu l) took the Novice 360 ra ce ahead of Frank Garcia ( Ka w) and with it took the lead for the year's 'h i g~ point trophy. Novice Dan Hughes (Su z) rode fast and smooth . beating out Robert Silva ( Yam) in the 250 cl ass. Expert Kenn y Robicheaux (Yam) won th e 360 event and to ok a third in the 500 event behind Ken Netto (Yam) and Curt Brooks ( Yam) . • Results in Results Section .
