JUNE 18 ' Saddleback Saturday Motocross. along with MSL lubricants put together a very profitable day of racing with a $600 purse for 30 the Pro's and USGP tickets and shi rts given to all non-Pro top finishers. T&D Yamaha's T im Lunde picked up som e good money for his clean-sweep victory in the 250 Pro d ivision . During the first moto action , Lunde pulled the holeshot and opened up the first lap . with Andy Kirker (Pro-Tec Yam) hot on his heels. As soon as Lunde made up some breathing room . there was no stopping him on his way to victory. As the moto went on , Rick Asch (KTM) and Arden Hadley (VH Mai) were making ground on Kirker for second. Asch made way past Kirker shortly after they got into some real dicing. and gained some ground on the leader . Lunde . Hadley pulled closer to Kirker as the moto ended . but was unable to challenge third position. Competition Cycles' Tom Cross (Mai) led the first .Ia p of the second moto but was quickly picked off by Asch, who moved into a large lead. Lunde and Hadley made their way through the pack, pulling up on Asch before long and making the final pass moments later. Asch held on to third ahead of Cross and Kirker Crown Cycle's Jeff Vidic had his hands full on h is way to top honors in the Open Pro division . Vidic pulled into the early lead during the first moto but was quickly picked off by Mark Rodman and T .J . Warr en . Rodman went on to lead the ra ce until the last lap . h is Maico quit, giving Rodman a very heart-breaking DNF. The moto win went to Warren . Vidic fin ished second while Wheelsmith's Jon Derhammer (M o n) and David • - ... . . . . '..... ~ ,~ y ,: -~ ..~ Gerig followed in. third and fourth. Vidic again pulled the start. this time leading the race from wir e to wire . Maico 's Will Harper d id some early moto d icing with -V id ic , but along with Warren and Derhammer . ended up with a DNF. Gerig made h is wa y through the pack to move into second before the fin ish. just ahead of Greg Blackwell and Yamaha-mounted Tim Tolar. Flying Machine Factory's C liff Lett took home the bucks ' in the 125 Pro action . winning the first moto, and fin ishing second to Gary Denton during the second bout. • Results in Results Section . Bay Park's sho rt track last Saturday - a 125 Pro class wit h nine riders enteri ng. m ostly from ou t of to wn . Running a th ree -heat , m o to style program , Pete Hames to ok two ou t of th ree to edge hard charging Cris Cannon and Tod d Br own . All were Yamaha m ounted . The 250 Pro class produced a re peat victo r in San Diego rider Rich ie Yolk , after a torrid 15-1ap duel with T ravis Perr on , Jr. First timer Dylan Neih art of Fontana pick ed up a third over Kaw asak i-m ou nt ed Jeff A llison . T he first th r ee riders were again a ll Yamaha -m ounted. JU NE 12 Although SRA's Spring ' Fling family enduro was not supposed to be for beginners. th e top three finishers of th e fir st loop were all ' C' r id e r s . Don , an O pen B class rid er, went o n to claim first overa ll fo r both loops.
