0/0 Danny Perkins in hot pursuit, Minnig was taking sharp dives off of tum four in an effort to get a wheel under Rainey. He seemed to pick up ground but would lose it in the drag race down the front side. On lap five Perkins put a move on Minnig coming out of tum two which gave him second and now it was Minnig's tum to play catch up . Rainey. meanwhile was starting to pull away, turning high 23 second lap times in the process. As the checkered flag came out it was still Rainey with Perkins hanging on to second and Minnig third . Minnig didn't have much to brood ab out as he had the fast time of the evening - 23.66 seconds and the 250 Amateur/Expert win . Minnig came off the line hard and rode a mo re radical line than the res t of the field . Perkins was after Minnig, closing with every .la p bu t not quite able to p ut the mo ve on. As the checkered came out Perkins let it all hang out as they wen t for the line and he was on ly the width of a tire behind Minnig as they crossed it. Terry Singleton held off Jim Lundgren for th ird. , Dylan Neihart showed Steve Fortune the way home in the Open Amateur/Expert half mile. Fortune got the jump off the line but he only held it one lap before Neihart took over for the duration . David Skirvin had the third place slot for two laps before Pal Dobbins put the move on him. Dobbins was another one who didn't feel too bad when he took the Open TT. He had the race from start to finish , topping Dylan Neihart who was plagued with problems. Three laps into the race Neihart's bike went sour and the lead went to Jones with teammate Ronnie Ray in second. Neihart pulled back onto the track with the problem corrected bu t was down one lap and had to settle for third behind Jon es and Ra y. 2 Pete "Speedy" Hames, whose bike got sick in the semis, came back in the mains with a machine that was extremely healthly to run away in both 125 Amateur/Expert events and claim the only double win of the evening. Bobby Garabedian who had tried to run TT during the half mile semi had his act together to take second in the TT with Chris Cannon taking over the third spot when David Hulberts bike went our on the fifth lap which gave him the show. The half mile again saw the two , three places up for grabs as Hubert hael second for two laps before Cannon got by when Hulbert again ran into trouble. Mike Redding had the third spot until the sixth lap when Garabedian put the move on him . As they took the checkered it was Hames, Cannon and Garabedian. • Rick Blankenship and Kirk Johnson hared the honors in the 250 Novice lass but it was not without some ueling. Bla nkenship had the lead rom wire to wire in the half mile when Johnson got stuck in traffic and had probl ems getting arou nd J oh n Perez. When he did, Bla nkenship was too far away to catch and he had to be ha p py with secon d ahead of Bob Callaway. It was almost the same story in reverse on the TT. J ohnson got the holeshor with Callaway in second and Blan kenship third. Bla nkenship picked off Callaway on the second lap but was ever able to get johnson and they nished in that order. • Resu lts in Results Section. 1 .YEAR WARRANTY $24.95 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling.
