It boi led down to a three ma n race out of a field of 10 and as the checkered came out for Perkins all eyes were on the finish line as Fortune and Luja n had a drag race with Fortune barely getting it. Fort une was ha lfwav readv for rhe fight he got from Luj a n as 'they had already had a good o ne in the Open Expert race. Fortune had taken cha rge immediately hut Lujan was back in sixt h on the first lap . O n the second la p. he ha d mad e his way to fourth and on th e next lap was in second . From th en on it was a hatt ie of lines around the tra ck. Fort une looked to the high groove whi le Luj a n was corning out of four low a nd appeared to be mak ing some gai ns. In the fir~ moto, Andy Jan nings was leadi ng wit h Shore a nd Jim Dom a nn (Yam) fight ing it ou t for seco nd . Dom ann go t by Shor e a nd went after Janni ngs. Shor e conti nued to fight it out this tim e wit h Mike Antes (Suz) for thi rd .
