I It may h ave been April Fool's Day Frid ay ni ght , b ut there was no fool ing arou n d with t he way Goat Brck er and Man y Mill er were racin g . They were dead ser ious. Marty did not get his usu al jump off th e line in th e 125 Pro te lass a nd was way ba ck in th e pa ck . J ohn Gless had th e lead and look ed like he was g() i n~ to' pu ll it off. On th e last lap Miller came flying off the h illside . closed on Gless and almost go t by on the back infield straight. A bobble almost cost hi m th e ba llgame and it loo ked as if Gless was going to be ab le to put it awa y. He forgot what a fighter Miller is as he closed up the gap. When they hit th e final turn, Miller got a wheel under Gless and came out of the turn dead even with him as they went over the j~mp' •anf , .r~.~e? ,. 9 les\' ,al , ,~~e ~ ch eckered by th e width of a front tire. Dou g Lin coln finished third . T he second and fina l mota was a no nonsense race with Miller taking the lea d off the line a nd go ing the dis ta nce . T he 500 and 250 Pros were combined in t he same class and a lthough they were scored separately the stage was set for a co nfrontation between Goat Breker a nd Miller. Goat has traded his Kawasa ki for a KTM and has picked up a nother sponsor. Along with Da llas Ba ker he is a lso a mem ber of T eam No rStar and it 1001<5 like it may p ro V to be a profitable l" relationshi p for all . T he first mot a saw Goat in his usual posit ion . up from a nd go ing aw ay. Runnin g away fro m his cla ss, Miller was right behind Goat so each had th e win in th eir respective clas ses but the stage had been set for the duel they knew wou ld ta ke place in the second .and final go. The spectators were not disappointed as 'it was Miller off on top with Goat several p lac es back. It didn't take Goat lon g to be in th e second spo t and then he went hunting. Miller was not about to make it eas y for him as they took the battle through the hills, a ro und the infield and back int the hills again . They were about four laps down when th e mistake ca me . Goat was pressing Mille r at the first uphill turn wh ich ca used Marty to add an extra hump to the course. It was enough for Goat to ca pita lize on , a nd he did , taking the Iead and going for the win . Both won their classes with Dave Miller and Kelly Callaway second and th ird to Goat and Scott Gilman a a Dean Wilkinson home behind Miller. Results in Results Section.
