Ma rino tried his best to get around Vidic a nd dogged his tail , bumped his tire , b ut couldn't get around . Val Tamietti gassed it for third. T he . second m oto was really inconsistent with the first round of action because this time Marino soared a good di stance ahead right from th e stan . Tamietti ran in sec ond place and d idn't appear to be any threa t to Marino while Jeff Vidic ended up suffering from a rather poor st a rt a nd had to sp end his time working around the mean four-stroke H ond a ofJim Lowe . In the final moto Marino picked the right line wh en they rounded the starting sweeper. ' Lowe and Vidic tracked to the inside line whi le Marino hung to the outside a nd made the pass which gave him command of the race . Tamietti m oved u p into the second place spot in fro nt of Vidic and Lowe which ended th e 500 Pro battle for the night. CMC Saddleback wins go fo L eff, Morgan and Anderson By Pa tti Trotter ORANGE, CA , MA R . 6 Red and Gold was the first color to be seen as the CMC 125 Pro race got und erway. Cliff Lett (FMF) rip ped off the line and led the parade around the firs t turn . Le tt was followed very closely by Ji m Gib son (Suz) a nd Fra nks ri der Danny T urner . Lett Jed t he race for five laps and then Gibson took command. There were no o ther change s in race order for th e duration of the rnoto. In the second m oto Lett aga in got goin g first and this ti me he never su rrendered his lead. Scot Cl ifto n (H on) was in second but by the en d of the firs t lap, Danny T u rner had snatched away Clifton 's sp o t. G ibson, John McGo nigal (FM F) and Kevi n Harlow (DG) had the next posi tions . The only change in th e run for the gold came when Da nn y Turner DNFd giving Gibson second place. Gibson was running a very close second when he took the high side of the berm on the sweeper in front of the Webco tower and got off momentarily. H e was able to get re -started and hold his position. Money for the day went to Lett , Gibson , McGonigal , and Clifton. Suzuki-mounted Ken Morgan went 2 for 2 in 250. Pro holeshots , In the first moto Morgan led Tim W elker (Su z), Mike Yorba (Suz), Steve R hva n (KT M) a nd Rocky McKt-e ( MCA). La p by la p Mc Kee inched his way up to the front of th e pack u n til in the last lap he was able to reel in Morgan and capture the lead . Alan Smith (H us) pushed his way through traffic until he had moved into third . At the end of the rac e McKee, Morgan , Smit h a nd R hyan had the top slots, Morgan ran awa y with moto two. W elker ran second to Morgan o n the first lap. Rhyan and Tom Cross ( Ma i) had t he next places until Smith and McK ee put the moves' on Cross and passed him on the back stret ch . As the riders approached the finish line it was Morgan , W elk er, R hya n , Smith and McKee. R obert " Bo biri no" Marino and his Sweet Du ck S';zuki pulled the holeshot in moto one of the O pen Pros. Dale Anderson (Mai) , Luke Messer (Ma i) and Mark Rodm a n (Ma i) were close behind. By the third lap Anderson had command of the lead , while Rodman took second. In t he second m ot o Rod m a n was first off the line with Marino, Messer, Anderson and Randy Blevins (Mai) trying to catch h im . Messer a nd Anderson got quite a d ice going as t hey b lasted their way down th e back st retch of the track . As they came into the ha irpin at the bottom of the hill , they we re wh eel-to-wheel and really on the ga s. Anderson was able to ou t maneuver Messer. Anderson was then ready to attack Marino who was busy gettin g rid of Rodman. As the riders came out of the gully and approached the score tower th e leaders were Ma rino and Anderson . Blevins , Rodman a nd Messe r were nex t . Nex t time around Anderson was the leader.
