He remarked that should Bay Mare fall through , the area would be well suited for real estate development and that he would consider purchasing it himself for this purpose. Not one protest was raised from the residents. Apparently, bulldozers . and construction would have no detrimental effe ct on epileptic dogs and brood mares. No one suggested he pay for road work. Interesting po int , especially in the light of a recent reversal , just a week 01' two before the hearing, in the support of the Fire Department and a local Citizen's Committee. . On our side were some pretty terrific people. Doug Burhoe was there with correspondence he 'd received from local Congressmen regarding the need for Bay Ma re. Doug had his say and refused to be put down by the ' Supervisors. Dee Granger, President of the Endoes was there and let everyone kn ow , in he r opinion , Jerry Shore was a fair and impartia l man who upheld his decisions. By the end of the four and one half hour session the vote was cast. Four Supervisors turned us down but one was for us . This one bad placing ruined his perfect score because he won the third moto as well. Atkins on the other hand , stayed consistent and swept through th e night with a 2·2 ·2 finish that gav e him the overall Mini Expert win . Burnworth took second . overall which still made his long d rive from Jamul worthwhile . Crown Cycleracer Mark Lawrence's aggressiveness helped him take the first place 125 Pro honors tonight , winning th e first two motos , whil e the third fell to John Atwood. Atwood was fu ll on th e throttle the whol e time , but Lawrence would always find a way to sne a k by. The pass that he made in th e second moto wh ile charging tow ard th e Steve Hurd jump was just sensational. Atwood deserved th e second -place money from CMC whil e Dan Turner rode Kelvin Franks' special breed of machine in for third . Results in Results Section.
