Third runner Cantaloupi closed the gap . and just before the finish boo ted West to thi rd . R ich ter got off th e line first in the initia l 250 m ota . with Mark Hilton (Suz) behin d . At the end of the first lap H ilt on slid out in the mud . Mike Hersm an (Bul) too k over second for th e next lap and a ha lf and th en flopped in the slop . Lon Ward ell (Suz) was next up. By th e time W ard ell had his one la p in seco nd, Hilton, who had been on the gas sin ce he cras hed , was back up to reclaim the position . Richter was too fa r go ne. The finish wen t d own ; Rich ter, Hilton , W ardell and closing fast but sti ll fourth Da ve Wood , a ll on Su zuk is. . In the secon d mota Richter had a good lead bu ilt in one . lap's time. Wood , H ilton a nd Wardell were runn in g close togethe r . Agai n Hil ton crashed. Wardell held th ird for one lap th en follow ed Hilton's exam p le . lea ving Kim Campos (H us) in third , but way behin d W ood who was way beh ind Richter. By the end of th e race H ilton had again picked u p lost positions, bu t cou ld n 't q ui te make the dis ta nce in time 10 get a second for the mota. He did get second overall. This was the fourth race Of Boss MX ' six race H usky series.
