The su rprise of ra in was m ore tha n so me of the d ro u gh t · sp o iled riders co u ld handle. R ich ter, ri di ng for Mo ta X Fo x, won a ll four of his rnotos b y a healthy margin , a ltho ug h in both 125 rides Laine W est (Suz ) took th e hole shot a nd led R ichter for th e first few la ps. In the fir st m ot a West , Ri chter , Mark Pearl (Suz) a nd Rob ert Nort on (Han) form ed a le ad p a ck . With the ex ce p t io n o f FMF rider Donni e Cantaloupi, who left th e seco nd ary pack, but didn't quit e catc h th e front group, the race stayed divided . The four out front m ixed it up a nd the order changed severa l times whi le th e riders took turns sliding ou t. Once Richter got clear , he left th e o the r three well behind . At th e finish Richter coast ed across , the n Pearl , Norton and W est ca me through . sti ll close together.
