Mike sent an inquiry to the Daytona series promoters, but when they never answered, he assumed they were running an all-Division Two show, li ke last year. Rosen was instrumental in the legislative fight to open both the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway to motor cycle traffic as well as a strong forc e . behind legisla tion for repe al of mandatory helmet and lightsron laws in several east coast states. In other AMA offi cer el~ctions, Robert Cra ig of Goodyear was elected tothe pos t of treasurer , a position held by John Harley of H arley-Davidson for many years. -. Bob Ru dolph of Bates Industries , Graham Kirk of Kawasaki Motors Corp. and Kei th Van H a rt e of U.S . ' Su zuk i Motor Cor p . retained their respec t ive p ositi o ns of presi dent , secretary a nd assista nt treasu rer : A major po rtion of the meeting was spent in a discussion and vote by the' Class B members on code changes that will affect professional competition. The members voted to adopt rul es and , formulate ch anges that would provide for a commissioner of p rofessiona l ra cing who would be responsible for all professional activities and wou ld be d irectly responsible to the board of trustees. There would be vario us professional com petition boards consisti ng of five m embers each who would be directly related to the specifi c type of competit ion. These ind ividu als would be selecte d by the president from a field of nom in ees selecte d by the board of trustees. Th ose n ominated wo uld in clu d e riders, promoters, technically train ed individ uals a nd th ose individuals with bu sin ess experie nc e in th e specific com petiti on field . The duly elected boards would be required to hold at least one meeting p rio r to th e annua l A MA board of t rustees meeting in September.
