Bill Rubly ( Mai) and Tim Lund e ( Mai) spent a good d eal of time dici ng. but whe n they were coming into the hai r pi n tum at th e bottom of the W ebco hill . th eir wh eels locked and Lunde went down . Rubly set out after the leaders . only to run out of tirr-«, The top fin ishers wer e Elliott , Be Ogden , Tamietti ' a nd Rubly. T im Tolar .. as first around th e first turn when the second 250 Pro moto started. Jeff '. id ic, on h is new Sweet Duck Suzook was in second place and Elliott had ahold of third . T ola r held the lead for four la ps . The back section of the tra ck saw a lot of ac tion to day; ·it seemed to be th e favorit e place fo r people to pass and t ha t's exactly where Elliott did in T o la r . The next time around , Bell passed Tolar in the same section . Val Tamietti (Ma i) d id n' t wait too long to join th e advancing pack. At one point in the race four ri ders wer e trying to take over the second place slot. T amietti, Lunde , Vid ic and Cl ark Jones spent a lot of energy tryin g to tak e away Bel l's spo t in the parade . When the checkers went out it was Elliott , Bell and T arnietti ca p turing th e to p posi tions. T hey also got the pa yb ack . Capt'n H ook , A KA C assin ' Ga ylon Mosier made th e cro wd smi le with his O pen Pro performa nc e. Gett ing a dead last start , Ga ylon wo rk ed h is wa y _ to second in th e first m ot o and wo n the secon d . Scott Gillm an ( Ya m) got sta rted first a nd opened up a big lead to score the top po ints in m oto one . Rich ee Collins (KT M) was h avin g a good go at holding down seco nd until Ga ylon and Ri ch Thorwaldson (Suz) put him back to fourth. G illman wa s credit ed wit h t h e hol eshot in the ' seco nd moto , with Tamietti, Luke Messer (Mai), Robert Marino (Suz) and Thorwaldson were next and Mosier wa s 11th . On the fourth lap Mos ier was in third and clos ing in fast on Tamietri , Val and Gaylo n pla yed tag for a few la ps b ut Mos ier was looki ng for the bucks so he swooped by and went for Gi llman . Mosier garnered first after blasti ng around Gill m an whi le they were coming out of the back section onto th e whoops o n the aspha lt -like back stre tc h . At the en d it was Mo sier. Gillman and Tamietti . T he overall order wa s: M osi er , Gillm an a n d T ho rwa ldson . • Results in Results Section . Steve Fortune , Da nny Perkins a nd Mik e M in nig we re a lso in th e field. In th e short tr ack even t, Rai ney was off o n top wit h Minnig in seco nd , Perkins th ird a nd Go rd ie Kidd a close fou rt h . T he no rthern boys we re la ying back wit h Hu rst in six th followed by Ja y Le wis , Da vid son a n d Brian T hompso n . T he fro n t fo u r were holding a nd Davidson was trying to move th rough traffic. Lewis wen t o ut with problems on the sevent h lap a nd ~ a v~dson got by Hurst whi ch put him In SIxt h . When the nag fell _it was Rainey a ll th e way with M innig in for second and Dan ny Perkins holdin g off Go rd ie Kidd fo r th ird . The hal f m ile was a n instant replay for Ra iney as he was off in front . T his tim e Davidson sett led into seco nd a nd sta rt ed to put th e pr essure . T id well ran th ir d for two la ps before Lawson go t by. Rainey was sti ll holding, riding Hank SCOII'S Sh ell bik e tha t is for sa le and giving th e specta tors a fantasti c show. But o n the white n ag lap in the second moto ; Rice n ew off the track! Ron Miller, a new m ember from Bakersfield who had been right behind Rice in both motos, also went off the track, but got back on in time to win .
