The evid ence should be compiled and presented to an attorney. The person responsible for the mismanagement of our tax money should be prosecuted. Discrimination against OHV owners is outrageous. . I tell someone that I race motocross, and they put me down and say I'm crazy. Yet they 're all for football . I'm an Expert and the worst , I've done is sprairi my shoulder . I can't say as m u c h for my friends who have wrecked their knees and ankles pe rmanent ly. I live in the Lodi-Stockton area , and we need an OHV park badly. The police have dirt bikes and chase riders on canal banks , but the prob lem is we have no place else to go. The closest . place to legally ride is 40-50 miles away . The mOTe of you that do it, the better . . . Ed. Super-tire comparison The following portions of my Su perT ire Comparison Test were omitted in the #50 issue (Jan. 4th) of Cycle News : 1. Individual " con tact patches" from all 19 tires in the comparison (as requested by CN edit or Lane Campbell). 2. A complete statistical breakdown of all the different tires compared (including tread width. tire weight , diameter, construction, erc .). 3. A brief explanation of the term .. Aspect Ratio" including a diagram . 4. A brief breakdown of the speed ratings (S ra tin g is 113 m.p.h . maximum , etc. ) 5. A complete listing of bo th the average and the fastest la p times for all of the tires in the comparison. 6. A " sugg ested ret ail price" breakdown and grap h for all of the tires in the comparison. 7. A complete list of all the manufacturers and distributo rs that participated in the comparison and offered the needed encouragement to see it through. So far I have ~eceived phone calls from readers In se veral states regarding the tire comparison. In each case the readers wanted information th at had been omitted from PART 1. The new John Steen In the Decem ber 14 issue, the article on OR A's Team Race, you said Craig Kinnaman's partner was John Steen. Is this the famous J ohn Steen who owned Steen's, Inc. and was number one 250 in desert racing somewhere around 1963? My dad is Neil Fergus, number one 250 (Desert) in 1965. Make it last longer I am an enduro freak and am sad to say that your coverage of local enduros stinks. Don't be so sparing of paper and ink. Try to get a few more words down about the stories and a few more pictures also. I like to read your paper ouring the week when I can't ride and would like to see something about the enduros I ride in. MR . & MRS . RON PERKINS Tehachapi , Calif. Apologies to Pat Richter The November 16th issue of Cycle News West contained a feature article which I wrote on Pat Richter. The purpose of the article was to make readers more aware of th is fantastic young man who won the Support Class at the Superbowl earlier this year and wa s the top placing non -fully supported rider in the Trans-AMA Series for 1976 . Pat had received partial support from Ted Lapidakis of KTM Imports in the west. Pat said he hoped to ride KTM again next year, but because most AMA Nationals and TransAMAs are held in the east , he was finding it financially difficult paying th e expenses when racing in the east. Since KT M Imports and Pen ton Imports sell the same KTM motorc ycles , I suggested myself in the article that Ted Lapidakis get together with John Penton so that Pat could get complete su pport on the AMA circuit for 1977. Unfortuna te ly, b ecau se of my article a nd its suggestion, Lapidakis terminated his support of Pa t Rich ter. My sincerest apologies go out to Pa t R ic h te r and mechanic Chuck Tannlind for the' trouble I caused them , though I kn ow Pat shouldn't be left hurting for a ride for long, and my deepest regrets go to Ted Lapidakis.
