,L undgren wins AMEB3cc By lee Taylor VALENCIA . CAL. , NOV . 26 In the 83cc 12 and over race Friday night , there was a battle royal between Jon Turner and Joe Lundgren. In the first rnoto Jon was riding Joe's tail fig hting for secon d. He finally got by and had to co n t e n d with Joe push ing and hounding him all around the track. When leader Wayne Nichols went down, Jon found himself in fir st and managed to hold it over J oe all the wa y ' to the end of th e mota. In th e second mota Joe managed a second over Jon T urner and when the rider in front of him crash ed h e took th e le a d, determined to hav e a first overa ll. He held Jon off as long as he could , but halfway through the mota , J on got by him for a hard-fought firs t overa ll, with second overall g oi n g t o Joe Lundgren . • • Jannings, Sluvdland at AME Night MX By lee Taylo r VALENCIA , CAL.. Er ic tu rned in a beautiful ride , really pu tti ng the heat on Mark . Eric took a first in h is first mo ta and a th ir d in t he second giving him a beau tifu l second over -all. Andy J a nnings held onto his lea d fo r a first over-all and Mark Hateley held off Eric , hold in g onto secon d for a third over-a ll. The 125 Intermediat e race was a tight one between t he Joh nson boys . Jeff and Chip. These two a re unreal and pursued eac h other a ll night lon g . In th e first mota Scott Morga n go t into th e act and had a tight bit of racing goi ng wit h Greg Boren. In th e seco nd mot a it was John Whelch el's turn to ta ke over and put th e he at on Chip and Jeff. The chec kered flag found Chip Johnson taking a first over- all, second going to Jeff J oh nson , th ird to Scott Morgan an d fourth to John W he lch el. • Results in Results Sect ion . Denton Deals Taylor Triumphs, Turner Terrific By Patti Trotter ORANGE, CAL. , DEC. 5 The CMC Sad d leback 125 Pros had 27 riders going for the brass. Gary- Denton (DG) went 1 for I in wins today, For the first mota Denton and Brae Glo~er (Yam) came down the hill and slammed around the first turn together. Ga ry managed to pull away from Broc and lead th e remainder of the race . Bobby Jones (Han) ro de th e third place slot. Mot a two Cliff Lett (FMF) and Jones were Dentoris closest com pe titors until Dandy Dav id Taylor. the last lap when Broc and his Yellow Screamer flash ed by th em and finished the race a hair behind Denton. Money went to Denton , Glover a nd Ma rk Tyer. Another DG speedster go t loose today and sm oked th e 250 Pro class . David Taylor was unbeatable . David's domination of the ra ce was com p lete, he j ust opened up his rocketship and flew . Mid-Vall ey Cycle rid ers Marty Moates a nd Gregg Robertson cleaned up in the second place points. Marty scored th e point s in th e first mot a a nd Gr egg swoo ped th e seco nd . Ron T urner (FMF) had little trouble getting the cas h in th e O pen . Pr os. Ron , Marty Moat es (KT M) and Ma rk Rodman (Yam) fin ishe d firs t in mot a one . It was Ron . Martv and Tim Lunde (Mai) in th e seco n d . • • Re sults in Results Secti on. AME 1. 25 Plate on the line By lee Tay lor VA LENC IA, CAL .. NOV. 28 The 125 Pros had everyone at attention . Everyone knew th ere were only two m ore ra ces co decide the Number One plate holder for next yea r. This h ad to be th e toughest race of th e day an d th e fans wer e out of th eir minds. As was ex pecte d , Will y Sim on s a nd Bob Kline gave everyone th eir mon ey's worth and th en some. In the first mota , Willy had a strong lead with Bob fighting for seco nd with Mike Pillar. Twice Bob went down and twice Mike got .!>y h im for secon d . Bob finally got by Mike again and ended th e mota with a second. The second mo ta fou nd Bob again running a stro ng second to Willy . Again Bob goes down and this time is thrown back to eighth place. The riding he did to catch up to Willy was sensa tiona l. Tim Loc ey moved up int o second and J im Hale into th ird. Jim Hale went down in front of the tower but managed to get up and go ing in time to be in fourth. A great race went on between Pillar, Hale , and Locey for second . these guys really knocked themselves out. Meanwhile Bob Kline worked his way back up through the pack, pic king off place after p lace . Willy Simons ran int o trouble with a broken pipe. dragging it all around the track with him . On the white flag lap, Kline managed to move into third and once more crash. With riders co ming up fast behind him he got up and going in time to hold onto fourth with Jim Hale getting by for t hird . The fina l checkered found Willy ta king home first over-all . second going to Tim Locey. third to Bob Kline and fourth taJim Hale. •
