mounted inside th e frame under the swinga rm , and with a nylon chai n drag pad on top of the swingarm :near the countershaft sp rocket. Husky's with thrown cha ins are a thing of the past. Both CR models also get super qu iet through-theframe exhaust pipes which are lighter than the old side mounted pipes. Fenders are wider injected moulded polypropylene plastic. The airbox gets a plastic outer cover with more internal air volume, and nestled inside is one of the new Twin Air waffl e pattern filters. These filter elements have a two-fold advantage in hat they have more surface area for filtering and th e affl e pattern vib ra tes to shake off dirt. The 390 CR engine actually. displaces 384cc a nd ks to be very bullet proof. New center cases are tronger up around the cylinder barrel mounting area . here are now two front engine mounts instead of one , nd even the cylinder is a complete new design rather han a bored ou t 360 CR . On th e new 250 CR engine there's been some changes to the porting, with the transfer angle being change drom 35 degrees to 15 degrees to give a roader , more usable powerband. T he new exhaust pipe helps increase overall horsepower throughout the . owerband. It was diffi cult to get an accurate hand ling . Impression of eithe r bike because th e Carlsbad course was in its usual poor cond ition . Hopefully, in th e nea r fu ture will be a ble to provide you with a com plete test with more time on th e bik es. What we could tell from our short test on th e overly rough course was that the suspensi on . espec ially th e Husky leading axl e front forks, ar e nothing short of fantastic and will probably be th e new suspension sta nd a rd for 1977 . Turning th e ikes was super easy despite th eir increased height with h e longe r suspension . Readily not iceabl e in t hei r h andling is th e ligh t 'weight , 214 lbs. for th e 250 CR nd only 218 lbs. for th e 390 CR without fuel. Wh a t the RM 25 0 a nd 370 Su zukis did fo r m otocross in 1976 , we think the new CR Huskys will p rob ably accomplish in 1977 . T he y'll be th e best p rofessional cali be r m ounts around. Even a novice ca n rid e th em fast , a nd th ey'll be available at a price 'even wer than the 1976 models. Suggested prices for the ew Huskys are an unbelievable $1695 for the 250cc nd $1850 for the 390cc. They'll be availab le a t Husky ealers beginning in January. • Husqvarna 250 CR Price: $1695 Husqvarna 390 CR ENGINE: Single cylinder 2-stroke Displacement: . . . . . .. . . .. • . . . . . . . ... . . . . . .. . . . . . . . • . . . . • . .. ..• . . 245cc 69,5 mm x 64,5 mm Bore & Stroke: Compression Ratio: • . •• . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . • . . . . . • • . 123 POWER TRANSMISSION: 6-speed motocross gearbox Cluth : : . . . . . . .. .. . . . . . . . . . .. .. . . . . . . . • •• . 6 disc rtght alloy 5/8" x 1/4" Chain: " Primary Transmission Ratio: 2SflO =. 2,41 Gear Ratios: 1st 24.0, 2nd 18.1, 3rd 14.4, 4th 12.1, 5th 10.2, 6th 9.0 Secondary Transmission Ratio: : 11/53 = 4.8 .;rA NK CAPACiTY:..... . . •.. ... .... .. . .. .. ...... .. . • . ... . 2.1 US gal17.8IitJ .cARBURETOR: .. ... .. . .. . .. . • . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. .. .. . .. . .. .....
