These two were buzzing each other through both motos like flying aces out of "Ba Ba Bla cksheep" . They must of thought they had a whole squadron of enemy planes on their tail. And they did . The Jrs. and Ints. swarmed in , out and around them till it was impossible to tell who was in what class . Finally. John Whelchel and John O'Mara set up a nice lead for themselves away from the pack and left the maneuvering to James Dugan , Jeff Kirby and Kirk Sturgeon . CAL. , NOV. 3 Eddie Lawson again totally dominated the Half Mile Wednesday night on the Corona oval and proved why he is ranked one of the finest in the Nation . Eddie rode both the Open Expert and Money Half Mile and was never seen anywhere but in front. After going wire to wire in the Expert with Dylan Neihart and Dave Peters following him home . he stopped long enough to take on fuel before returning to the line for the Money go . Again he was off on top for a commanding lead for all fifteen laps. Mike Minnig had tucked into the second spot but on lap six Dylan Neihart, who is really warming to his new 750cc, went on by and Mike had to start watchining out. for Dee Toth. Dee was very much in it until unlucky la p 13 when attrition problems forced him out. When the checkered fell it was Lawson. Great Pumpkin Grand Prix at Corona Raceway, and the weather was anything but Fallish as the temperature was well into the nineties. Although there was suppose to be a prize for the best costume worn by a rider no one took the race promoters up on it so the prize will never be known. Unless you were riding up fornt you were eating dust and when the riders came in it looked liked the agony and the ectasy. Thunderpussy CA RLSBAD, CAL.. OCT. 31 The Viewfindes M . e . had sched uled a m ot ocross for this 'weekend , but due to a shortage of race tracks, they couldn't find a p lace to run their event. Fortuna tely, Bu tch Lee of Dirt Bike Promotions was ho ldi ng a D-38 race at Carlsbad on the same day, so when asked by the Viewfinders if he co uld include the D-37 folks , he agreed to do so. With the end of the year rapidly approaching, this gave the D·37 riders the added advantage of one more race at which they could earn more points. The D·37 turnout was relatively small, but there were plenty enough to fill each rnoto . In the Open Amateur-Expert race, Chuck Pettigrew (Mai), from D-37] 1 had a I -I sweep for the day. and managed to put on a show for the folk3 while doing it. Pettigrew' unspectacular but fast inside lines"! flowing cross ups, and his ability tiP leap bunches of whoopers in a single bound, were a joy to watch . Ken n;' Frost (Suz) of D-38, in his classy Halloween Bozo suit. got the first moto holeshot, but dropped it on the first lap and never could make up the ground. Robbie Norgaard (CZ), : also from D-38, ended up with a third , with Andy Bolander on his new KT M in for a solid 4t h p lace. • In the seco nd moto Pett igrew got the holeshot and spent half the ra ce duking it out with Frost for the lead. but Pettigrew again willed out and pulled out a large lead for the eventual win . Frost was second, and Norgaard again was third. AI Steinbaugh (Suz) had a very consistant ride for a fourth overall and second D -37. and Bolander, who wen t from dead last in this moto to a fifth , ended up the day with a fifth overall . _ High School MX at Corona By Elaine Jones CORONA , CAL..
