Jim Crowley was running a pre tty solid third until lap four when Dylan Neihart put. the move on him and nailed.the spot down solid . • Little Todd Brown hit for two winning the 125cc Amatuer Short Track and then pitting his little Yamaha against the 250cc Novices on the Half Mile when he found himself without a class . He not only beat Randy Miller and Greg Bell he led all but on e lap and has clearly set himself up as one of Corona's better 125cc riders. Steve Mott made Randy Miller play bridesmaid for the second time a. he stayed ahead of him for eight laps in the 250cc Novice Short Track. Ron Byars came from behind to pick up the third . , Bobby Garabedian was the only other rider to collect two as he topped Rodney Rainey on both the Short .T rack and Half Mile Mini goes . Mike Tidwell did not go without as the Upland flash went at it with Mike Minnig in the 250cc Expert Short Track. Mike got off first and held off the field for three laps before Tidwell got by. Lap seven was Minnigs downfall as his bike went sour and he was out. Dylan Neihart was more than happy to fill up the gap. Dave Peters is still cooking on his new Triumph and had no trouble' doing away with Steve Okuda and Gary Kauffeld in the Open Expert Short Track. Steve Polson and Fred Conover shared the wealth in the Open Novice Short Track and Half Mile . Steve got off the line first when John Wright killed his engine just ' as the flag dropped. Although he got running he was just too far down to ever be iii the position to give Steve problems. Fred d idn't have it so easy on the Half Mile . He . got off on top but Bob Bell was right behind him . When Bob started having problems John Gimenex moved up i to start putting the pressure on Fred and although he was close he never got within striking distance and had to settle for second . Bob hung on • for the third . Old n mers Grand Prix ByO. T. Dal EDWARDS AFB , CAL. OCT. 31 Dick Mosely and Chuck Irons had the desert by the ankle as the traded wins in each moto, with Chuck one point up at the end, taking the top banana for the day, and Dick pulling in hard for second. The desert air really pumped 01' Dal up, who slipped in for third , followed close by Larry Smith with a consistant 4·4 for the same overall. 'j phn Seider completely dominated the Amateur class by stretching out a lead . that made him look like he was in ' a different race-va lead so long that even though his engine soured toward the end of both motos, he was able to stave off J. R. Irons in the first mota and Jerry Scott in the second. Jerry ran a tough 3-2 through the dust for second ovewrall, and right behind was Steve Pyle, super steady with a third slot for the day .
