One slightly demented person, and his slightly demented friend, rode the buddy race over the entire Corona MX course on a street legal Honda 750 Four, and they finished the race . Th e poor mini they passed on the uphill is still in a state of shock and probably with good reason ; it must have looked like a Boeing 707 coming up on him with all those lights. The team didn't win an ything except the admiration o f hem standin ovation every time they came aro und. The team race was of ficially wo n b y the m ini team of Chuck Gleeson an d Karl Johnson. Chuck also add ed th e Mini Beginner Class with a 1-2-1 over Britt Wallace and Peter HoDack. Teammate Karl Johnson took the Min i Novice. Bobby Hart collected the gold in the Mini Exp ert from Tracy Lee Sm ith and turned the 100cc Expert class everwhere but loose to come up with the dough over Bryan Jordan. Without the Breker Brothers the 250 cc Expert class was up for grabs and grab is what J im Hoover d id, taking all three motos. Kelly Callo way and J im Latendresse were tied go ing into th e final moto but Jim got the nod whe n Kelly wen t ou t with mechanical problems three laps into the moto . I still had enou h for third. Marty Miller had to work hard for his money in the 'l25cc Exp ert class. He won th e first mo to bu t that was his last win for the even ing. T im Hoover was home first th e second moto and Mike Loper claimed the final . Marty cam e up with the overall with Mike two points behind in second and Jim Lawson taking third in a tie with T im Hoover. Clifford Mathews didn't win the 250cc Novice class but it wasn't because of his ability . He ran out of gas on the line in the first moto. He got back into the race, passing everybody in sight , but was down too many laps to get any more than a fourth. Th e Can-Am rid er came ba ck fo r th e next two and out-ran every bo dy . He lost the overall to J eff Sp echt, by on e point, but will still mo ve to In termediate. Greg Ern st, another Can -Am rider, was in for third. D!c~ K~I~_roe (Kaw Z-1). Charlie Guinn had no trouble with the 250cc Intermediate Class, takin g all three rnotos, while the rest of the field mixed it up. T. D. Walker had his Suzuki working super a nd too k a grand slam in the 250cc Beginner, over Stirling Christiansen and Steve Lawson . Randy Boiorquez took J eff Sweet in the IODcc class and the Intermediate honors went to Matt Devich. A big field of 125 cc Beginners met to do battle and Randy Shoaff pulled it out with a 4-2-1, which was a ctually a tie with Charle y Starr who lost it because of h is 2-1-4. Steve Morefield had a perfect score to win th e 125 cc Nov ice fro m Gary Rehome and John Petrey did n ' t have too much trou b le taking the 125cc Intermediate. Rollie Smith took the final moto but had problems. the first, which gave him a DN F and not enough
