David Webster was there on his Yamaha 175, fmishing second Expert for h is efforts. In the Senior class Svein Thordarsen o n his Moritesa took the win, but not without some score card to score card competition from Honda mounted Wayne Emge, Some comendation is due these senior citizens of the trials world. They bust their proverbial butts in a combination of Beginner and Novice sections. Thanks guys, the younger riders appreciate yo ur assuring grins and winks. . Duane Feland ro de the wh ole last loop with an ear to ear grin, flashing the number one as he locked up another Amateur. Oli Thordarsen was grinning too. Oli had asecond in the previous trial overall be hind Derham m er. Ti m Tolar fin ished third in the final m o to an d third overall in the Pro pay back . Mark Rodman dominated the Open Pro's aboard his new Yamahas. Chuck Pettigrew didn't get protested this week and went on to finish With a 2-2 score to finish second overall, behind Rodman. Craig Adams beat o ut lo ng-time-no-see Mike Yorba in the final moto to finish third overall (4-3) over Yorba's 3-4 score. As you migh t expect. Sue Fish smoked the ladies Pro division with little trouble but maybe from Honda's Barbara Spielman, who finished with a solid sec o nd overall. Bulta co mounted Cherry Stock ton ro de in to a lit tie challenged, nor challenging, third overall. while Kim La -Vigne did a little more work to keep her Can -Am in the top four positions. • Results in Resu lts Section. and scored another second to back it up. Mark Webster switched from his trusty Yamaha to a Bultaco for this one. After a shaky start Mark rode well, finishing third Amateur. Davi d DePaolo was another grinner. After a whole garage full of rn ed ic ore finishes Dave hit pay dirt. All it took was a new coat of paint for his Honda to collect a Novice win. Jack Weir was out of breath, but solidly in second on Bultaco. Greg Wellover, an his incredibly agressive rider, pounded. rattled and thunked his way into 't hird Novice. Novice competition is becoming the most fiercely contested class w ith as many as five riders tieing fo r one spot. Bultaco mounted Mike Fyfe got into the swing of things with a first place finish. Mike was fo llowed by Bruce David and his Yamaha. An optimistic Snowden Mathews was smilin g before th e t rial eve r started. In each moto J eff Stanford got the holeshot, opening u p a n ice lea d for himself, leavin g the field behind hi m to battle for second. The battle continued right down to the wire w ith Mark and Peter going after each other barely passing and then regaining their positions. They had some trouble with Richard Quick who wanted them both out of his way. The end of the third moto found Jeff Stanford first overall with second going to Mark Powell. The Junior cycles think they're pretty sharp. Most of them ar e not quite ready for the bigger minis but that doesn't stop them. It didn't stop Eddie Hicks from pushing and nudging Gary Szilagyi and Dean Lonskey through all three of his motos to a second overall. It didn't stop Gary Szilagyi from a beautiful ride either, with two firsts and a third to show for it. These little guys are the Juniors and they have a lo t of heart. No matt er what migh t happen to them in a given race they're always back next wee k to give it another try. • Results in Resul ts Section.
