SRAC re feree Hubert Betzen (Pen) rode a fine mudder for second over-all Charles Geist (Yam ) managed to slip in for third. Next up, 250 Novices, Did they have a ball com in g off the loose lin e. Five riders down and the rest slipped away. Gary Myers (CA) rode well enough to do it for first over-all while Ron Sikich (Bul) plowed in for second and Do c Baldwin (Bul) greased it in for third. T he 250B 's had a b ogging go od time and saw Scott Nix (Mail graduate from B rider to A rider with his fir st over-all after a muddy good m oto. Tom Frame did a super good job on his Bul to take second over-all. John Drieger (Kaw) did it for third. The 250A race was anybody 's mud p ie. Mik e Meyer (Hus) got the mud gods no d to d o it while Mike Adams (Yarn) wallowed in to 2nd. Mark Corbett pick ed some different lines to clinc h a sh ak y 3rd. Mike Loeffler proved to all and sun dry th at he and his Su z ·were the on es to beat in th e 125A race. Mike put to gether two rides th at were mudriffic for first over-all. AI Firest ine picked up a second to continue his points lead for the year. Jay Ric e rode very well to ro cky rail his ·way for third over-all. The 125B boys say Ben Ec khard t (Suz) do it con sisten tly for th e fir st while Gil Rojo (Suz) p icked up secon d and Brian Sharp • was just th at for third . Results in resu lts sec tion. Duffy goes down at Rio Bravo By Mark Knowles HOUSTON,TEXAS , SEPT. 19 Local racin g in the Houston are a seem s to have peaked out with the fall schoolse ason in full swin g and today was n o excep tion as the races dragged ou t to nearl y dark. The usually ac tion pa cked 125 Expert clas s seem ed .more like a beginner's Novice class as more than one rider dropped ou t to minor falls and mechanical problems. But old pros never die held to the test as Glen Johnson stayed consistent to pick up first place cash. Ricky Whit followed for sec on d as both Barry Duncan and Bo Kock enc ou ntered numerous problems but still finished third and fourth. Glen Urquhart was the star of the 25 0 Expert class until a hard earth-sky act put the rapid Yamaha rider on the side- lines. Gary Wells p icked up the winning position followed closely by bobby Guidry, J ames Tidwell and Darwin Hu ckabee. Keith Duffy started off hard in th e Open Expert class bu t should have stayed home as he lost his big KTM on a fast straightaway and wen t down hard.
