Mini Speed Week at Bonneville By Dorde Woodruff. WENDOVER, UT., SEPT. 25-26 The last of a sum mer-long monthly series of Speed Trials was held -by the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association. Rules are basically 36 the same as at Sp eed Week in August. The co urse is shorter, three m iles, and the distance t hro ug h the traps 132 feet at the en d of the third m ile. Times are not official records but the meet enables racers to check out their equipment, new drivers to gain experience. Riders and drivers, for t he $I 0 charged can purchase a very acc urate speedometer check, or just enjoy running. Entries we re mostl y cars, with only motorcycles six wildly assorted participating. T he m eet in gs provide a cheap er, u ncrowded , low pressure alternative to Sp eed Wee k. Entrants are lucky to have discovered this opportunity in its infancy. If the meetings had the attendance they deserve they w ould b ecom e crowded, not as much so as Speed Week, perhaps, when the line at the start now stretches a half mil e.
