There were reasons to expect good competition. as double p oints today p u t first pl ace up for grabs in both th e Amat eur and Pro divisions : a nd th e $2500 purse drew Pros from near an d far. Then th e weather fouled th in gs up . It started a s on e of those days which co u ld have be en ide aL· The track was perfectly groomed and the slight overcast cou ld h ave preserved the con ditio n s for the whole day. Then the overcast grew darker and drizzle turned into full fledged rain. The daylight hours, al ready shortened by the time of year, were further shortened by the gloo m. The Minis' last race of the day ran in almost total darkness. Mini Expert DougF"oster led the Amateurs go ing in today bu t J ace Craun was breathing down his neck in the 125 l nt enned ia te.
