The [mal race was re started when Ch ris jumped th e lin e and Hames was left on th e startin g lin e. More problems occurred when Bobby Garabedian bit the dust and again th e ra ce was called to a halt> Jim Snow p ull ed th e third holeshot, but Cannon and Hames were ou t for blood. Pete slipped under Chris and se t his sights on Snow. Pete turned it on at th e top o f the straight and got what he was after. Chris followed in Pete's footsteps and moto three ended, just as the two previous races, with Pe te Hames taking the win. The 250 Amateurs 'and Experts ran together in two hea t ra ces, a semi, and a main. Eddie Beeson and Steve Loomis reserved th eir seats in the m ain from the first heat and Larry Bird led Greg Zeh ner on to thc main from the second. The se mi turned out to be as crazy as the mini rac e. Dorothy Rowe to ok a head er trying to avoid some bikes that had slowed up bu t, with some help fr om Don Frau en b erger, go t her bike back in working order: What ever he did to her Yamah a was done very well becau se she sho t ou t fron t and led th e race up to the [mal lap when J eff Sp ri ngman bull -d ogged his way past to take the win . D oro th y , Mike T id well an d Steve Wosko ski joi ned the others in the m ain. Beeson got the jump off the line and th at ' s all he n eed ed . Steve Loomis and J eff Sp rin gm a n were left to battle fo r the second p lace position. Neither n o ticed that Larry Bird had moved up and quick as a flash Larry traded places with Loomis and tried his luck with Springman. Jeff held on and the n um ber two spot belonged to h im, Larry settl ed for third. T h e three muske teers o f th e 125 Amateur/E xpert were Duane Gall ager, Steve Polson and Mik e Tidwell. Gallager took th e win moto one and Tidwell wen t from .. fourth in moto on e' to take th e win in the nex t two rounds.
