SEPTEMBER 7 The Motorcycle Industry Council, Inc. has announced the formation of a Land Usc Plani n cooperation with the American Motorcyclist Association. The projected four-year-plan was approved in concept at recent meetings of both the MIC and AMA boards and implementation is scheduled to begin immediately. While the AMA -w ill supply the manpower and resources for the plan, the MIC will furnish the needed funds, currently estimated in excess of $250.000. Under the AMA/MIC Land Use Plan provisions will be made to provide a working library of available information covering geographically representative environmental impact case studies, a legal r e view of existing landowner liability laws, a study and evaluation of existing state-supported facilities and research of rider expectations and desires for these facilities. All of this information will be made available to aid motorcycle rider rep resen t at ives for use at local lan d use meetings, as we II as rec reational p lanne rs, land managers and federa l and state agencies invo lved in the po lic y, p lanning and implementation of recrea t io nal p rojects.
