Dennis' heroics t his weekend (a seco nd , three firsts , plus a win in the Black Plate Race Saturday night ) extended his co mfortab le margin for top plate honors in District 36 as well as sewing up top money for Lodi's n ight season. In addition he moved in to IlI"St by one poin t over Kim Jorgensen for th e Valley Racing Association gold plate award. Doug Chandler moved into co ntention for 80 class season honors by winning both nights. Fred Merkel was shut out in this class b o th nigh ts as Tracy Hayes took two seconds. Merkel did win the Mini Open Main t o ga in so me breathin g room t here. The week 's competition produced Jimior points for 80 Novice J oe Kn igh t , Expert po ints for Open Junio r Ric h ard Thurman , an d near Exp ert status for 80 racers Kelly Woods and Eric Lewis.
