Kat z MC, who sponsor t he event, p asse d a rule affec tio nat ely known around t he pits as the Ho m o t rul e. The specifics 0 f this piece of legislation wa s Gen e Homot who in the p ast has co me to th e Aqua Fest with a RD Yamaha production bike and run every Production class, Cafe class and som e GP event s. Anyone foolish enough to try this feat in 100 plus wea th er dese rves some respect, but Homot had the gall to win trophies in every Class he en te red. Last ye ar he won six , this year he entered one clas s, the 410 Production class, and built up a bi g enough lead to carry hint through the five classes he wouldn't be allowed to ride. Following Homot in were Rusty Gorley and Charles Brothers, who after four laps loo ked like leaders as Ho m o t languished, ' lolled and took in the sigh ts out front. Texans pl ay it right out front, maybe not fair, but plainly in sigh L Everyone watching the Open Production race marveled at Dan Morrison on his 900 BMW and how eas ily he pulled awa y from the pack of Z-l 's and other power packs. Especially amazed were the riders behind hint who promp tly protested the production birthrigh t .of his engine and pipes. "Shucks" said Morrison. " Disqualified" said the referee. 'II win" said Dennis who insists on riding old British antiques. Luckily he was in good company as Jon Minnono rode a defunct Limey bike to the 750 Production win. Both Kalmus and Minnono don't mind a few oil stain jokes as long as "Ya smile when you say that, podner," . Gary Parker comes from the small central Texas town of Killeen. Gary used to be a hotshot motocrosser and he rode TM 400 Suzukis and beat. the likes of Stackable , Priddy, Howerton and Wise cau se nobody told him yo u co uld n't go fast on those things. Parker is still up to his old tricks with an old 250 Suzuki twin and a few other non race bikes to win 250 GP, take second in 250 ·Produ ct io n and -second in Open GP . Texas road ra ce is still dominated by howling Hondas, Homot and Hogman. It is a closed shop just waiting for a man with a faster four to come into town and try to take it away. No way !
