There wa s a large crowd of spectato rs as the race s gu t o ff to a fas t start in the Open Expert ra ce . Chris Cunnin gham was ahe ad of th e pa ck on hi s new R~l 370. As each lap passed Cunningham go t farther ahead o f th e sec o n d pl ace finisher Carles Cooper (Pen) . Cunningham went on to win the first moto at Teast 3 0!} feet in front o f Cooper who finished second. , The second mota wasn't an ything like th e first. Co oper got the holeshot and held the lead, while Jim Thomas (Suz) , Clarence Fortney (Yam), ' and Cunningham battled it out for a se cond pl ace finish r Cooper won the second moto with Fortney c o min g . in second ' w ith Cunningham and Thomas on his tr ail the wh o le time.
