View Cycle Park a little skittery for the first motos but traction was perfect by round two. By Jan Newman WASHOUGAL, WASH.,jUNE 27 Familiar faces were at the front of the Mini and 100 classes. David Cooper (Yam) was first Mini again and Mike McCormick (Yam) was all alone in front of the 100s. Mike ran into trouble in the 125 intermediate though. Dale Olson (Yam ) led all three motos but was seldom more than a missed shift away from McCormick and johnny Bratten. Mike was in second in the rust race when he landed too hard off a jump and took a sizeable bite through his tongue. Ron Lutman (Hon) continued to dominate the 125 juniors. Bill Kent (Yam) rode to second in the first moto before his bike problems began and he was out of it . Mike Chaney (Hon) finished second overall with a 3-2-5 record. Scott Greene (Hon) finally got it together in the third moto to lead wire . to wire and earn third overall. Ben Willis (Bul) led the 250 juniors until he missed a gear halfway through and Phil Pomeroy (Yam) slid by . Soon after, the Bul blew a gasket and Ben became a spe ctator. Terry Blaske (Hon) . won the second moto but encountered mechanical pro blems in the third. Pomeroy took top brass. Mark Ruple (Suz) led 0 Heavy clouds of dust no doubt had a bearing on the outcome of some of the contests today. The first two or three riders were the only ones who could see where they were going. Only those whose motos lasted long enough for the traffic and dust to thin out stood a chance of coming from behind. The luck of the cut cost us the pleasure of some real competition in the 125 Intermediate. The class was split in the middle just as they were signed in. jace Craun (Hon) and Tim Michlitsch (Hon) each led their respective divisions by a huge and lonely margin. There was competition behind them, though. Harry King (Suz) put a fourth and a second together to finish second behind jace. Tony Buyas (Suz) and Rowdy Blasdell (Yam) took turns following Tim in but each had a DNF also. Louie Cornelius (Yam) was second overall with a 5·3 record. Paul Wellman (Hus) escaped a 10-bike pile up to win the rust 250 junior moto. He went down in the second moto but recovered to finish second behind Harvey Visser (Suz). Bill Holtman led all the way
