SCO RE had a good idea on Co-O p pits, but they didn't work o ut as well as planned. As p ar t of the Otganized Co -Op Pits , o ur club, "East-West M.C." was in charge of pit No, 4 (San Felipe) . We were m anned well en ou gh to even handle pits for buggie s .as well as bikes. We were info rmed by riders and other peop le that all pits were not run like this. Gas No.2 was real poorly run. Ri ders had to wait to get their gas .an d if they didn't want to wait they gassed up their own bikes. What kind of pit is that? They even gave one person (No. 633), the wrong gas . A lit tle m ist ake , but for the rider a fatal one, because No . 63 3 led the first 180 miles of the race for his class (125cc ). He also set the fastest ti me overall fr om Gas 1 to Gas 2. This kind of pitting is no t needed or wanted anywhere. Everybo dy that was p itting volunteered, they weren't forced to go but they co mmitted themselves to do the job, a good job, with sportsm an like co nduct. Overall, Co -Op pittin g is a good idea , people should care enough about every on e concerned , not just t heir o wn rider. Rheba Sm ith , Man ager ; Pam Green and Callie: Smi th, Assistants.
