The two · have actually become fairly close. Both young; English -speaking after a fashion; and, often as not, racing against each other in GPs. They even share many of the same interests. "Don't pay too much attention to Chris. We're going to do all right in motocross, too. But it is' bloody expensive. My family must have thought the money outflow would never stop." "3 ~ By Bill Samuels Elliot Schultz is probably as well known in California as he is here for his feats in flat track and other motorcycle endeavors. But here as an RMf A member he is to us a trials rider. So it was a pleasure to learn he had been chosen by Bultaco International to give trials schools allover the country. Many of us have had the benefit of his instruction before. But I had heard that teaching trials . all the time has helped him develop a real good format. Saturday was for upper class and 12 riders attended. I decided to go Sunday to see what he could do with a large group of riders with varied skills. Forry-one riders plus spectators were there Sunday and the results were amazing. Elliot has four main points he teaches but two to me are the real basics. They are unweighting and weight transfer. His description of weight transfer is very clear and simple. Explained in terms of leverage, every move your bike makes out of a straight line is considered a turn, and your weight should be placed accordingly. His methods for teaching body position for best leverage were excellent. By the end of the day riders who had never ridden trials and those who had ridden many had all improved remarkably. Elliot is leaving now to hold schools allover the East for the next three mon ths. He has become an excellent teacher and has something to offer the worst rigll t up to the best in trials.
