Romero was wheeling away in the first moto when he slid out allowing Barry Meyers (Suz) and Guy Ro m ine (Bul) to pass, fmishing third. Meyers grabbed the lead of the second m o t o but Romero blasted past fo r the moto win an d the support of th e crowd. Meyers (1-2) took top hon ors as Romero slipped back in to second. Randy Desouxmond (Hon) pu t to geth er a 6-3 showing to edge Gu y Romin e (2-7) for third. • Buffalo speedway Pro Am short track By Frank H. Harrison CARROLTON. TEX., JUNE 19 Weather co ntinued to pl ague North Texas tr acks as Buffalo Speedway personnel struggled with a boggy back stretch for tonight's Pro -Am short track ra ces. After two hours it was unanimously de cided to can cel th e short track program and have a TT sin ce the fron t str aigh t was alread y gett ing dusty with vans racin g arou nd on it in an effort to dry o u t th e back stretch. Besides the weather was p erfect fo r a ch ange. It 's always go od for the crow d t o stan d up occasio nal ly, and the Open Main see ms to spark th e occasion ; as the big gu ns rolled into turn on e with Odcll Davis (Vam ) in th e lead closely followed by Billy Orr (Stu b blefiel d Cycle ), Louisiana 's Fre ddie Spenc er (Yam) and Stovall Yamaha's Buck Boren. Second lap saw Spe ncer quickl y move into second. then first, with Davis, Orr. Boren and Big D's Billy Wiese all pushing h ard. Orr putting tremendous pressure on Davis slips and falls leaving Spencer with a big lead followed by • Davis, Boren , and Wiese . rain show~r gave t he Lake Whitney minis more to think about.
