Over 230 rid e r s flooded the
gates last Friday night for the final
qualifier in the "White Knuckler
Series" for CMC Junior riders.

The Pros also got in 10 the act as well
with some great racing of their own.
125 Pro John Atwood 'rode his FMF
Honda to a convincing victory in the
opening moto as he held a three-bike
length lead in the first comer. Placing
second in the first round was veteran
Tim 'Lunde followed by Mark Lawrence,
Doug Nicol, and Jim Harris.
The second moto found Atwood
again out front with : 'Mad Man"
Lawrence rurming second this time
around and Dave Pessy third. Late in
.the five-lap moto , Lawrence started
applying pressure to Atwood, bu t not
soon enough,

In the final, Lawrence was not to be
denied. He rode his Yamaha to the win
and had the crowd standing up all
through his performance. At the start,
Atwood and Pessy jumped to the front
with Lawrence just slightly behind. On
the second lap, right in front of the
grandstands, Lawrence made an inside
move on Pessy for second, and in the
next comer, Mark slipped under
Atwood for the lead.
Atwood claimed the overall victory
with Lawrence second followed by Tim
Lunde, Dave Pessy, and Vince Van
Hook.
In the 250 Pro class, "Mad Man"
Lawrence was at it again along with
Vince "The Hooker" Van Hook. In the
first go, "The Hooker" took the overall
victory with "Mad Man" second
followed by Ripley and Serjeant.
. For the fourth consecutive week in
the 500cc Pros, current CMC Pro point
leader Val Tamietti easily scored the
overall victory. The Maico rider
captured the first two motos and
coasted to a second in the final round.
Kevin Young, who took the win the
final five-lapper, placed second with

. third going 10 Jim Harris.
Draz drops in on
Ascot ·MX

Along with graduation ceremonies, the U.S. GP and the 125
National, most of the local Pro
riders were absent from the Ascot
night motocross battle. So, all three Pro
classes were combined and 125 ace Dave
Carlson (FMF) proved to be "King of
the Hill".
Only eight Pro riders lined-up
(125,250, & 500). Carlson grabbed the
early lead and the eventual win . Back in
