Our man at East said she looked good in practice, but mechanical problems kept her from qualifying. E • t ~ This is a good news, of sorts. The Environmental De fense Fund, strapped bread, has been forced to for discontinue publication of the ORV Monitor. This particularly spiteful lit tle anti-ORV hat e sheet is not totally dead, as the Sierra Club has agreed to take over the Monitor on a trial basis . According to W/ERA' s late st bulletin, Dave Emde, Wes Cooley, Bruce Sass and Val Agostino lead the Western Region GP points as of mid-May. In the Midwestern Region, Tom Byars, Fred Spencer, Tare llo Tachi and Virgil Davenport head the stand ings. Bracket road ra cing , proposed in CN a cou ple weeks bac k, got its first tryout at Mid-America Raceways near St. Louis, Mo. May 15-16. June 5-6 is a W/ERA National with " tow money" for out-of-division Expert riders. Then on June 12-13 AAMRR (the original alphabet dub) hosts a race at which AFM licenses will be honored via a ClHJP agreement between those two organizations. American Honda has released their version of the m ost beautiful m otorcycle ever built to the American public. But, only 2,000 of these unique beauties wiU be im po rted into th e U.S. so when Honda says it's not a bike f or everyone, they really mean it. The GL·lOOO LTD is a classic, for sure, from the beautiful deep candy brown m irror finish (with very fine gold striping) right down to the gold anodiz ed wheel rims and plated spokes. The GL·lOOO LTD has to be seen to be appreciated. For only 1300 more than a sto ck GT OOO, it's worth its weight in chrome and gold plating. .-l
