Tell 'yo ur friends you appreciate them, bikers, and they may not listen to environmental extremists as much. • Utah: Little Sahara BlM recreation area By Dorde Woodruff On a cold April morning a small bu t enthusiastic crowd attended ceremonies to o ffic ially open the BLM's significant o ff-road vehicle orien te d area. Of 62 ,000 acres, two-thi rd s is designated for the use of motorcycles, dune buggies and four-wheel drive vehicl es. The rest is a segregated and protected natura! area, and a sand play buffer zo ne . Pole fences separate these areas from the ORV use. At first used principally by lo cal residents, 185 .000 visitors came in 1975. Large sums have been spent by the county on roads leading to the area. The Juab County Sheriff's Posse provides policing and rescue services. Congressman Allan Howe, snug in his down .parka. commented on the need for multiple use.
