the winner - Willy Crabbe , and of course, Gary Scott. Gary arrived early to do promotional work fo r us and, d uring the two days we spent with him, we discovered 'he is a co mple te gentleman. His major priority is the image he, as National Number One, presen ts to the public. He volunteered to do anything he co uld to help with th e race - even to picking up the sal ads fo r our after-race party . It was an extreme pleasure and honor for us to meet an d get to know Gary Scott. He carries the Number One plate proudly and still manages to be a wonderful person. The whole town of Gil a Bend was super friendly and cooperative. Police had the streets blocked off for the ra cers and kept them clear so no one would get hurt. Free cam pin g was provided in , town and after th e race w hich was a hot one, 103 degrees, racers could take a cool shower un der the town 's water tower. At the checks they had cold water and a sweep crew on mo torcy cles' that was fantastic . I race in District 38 , an d they 've never put on a race like that. SANDRAJ . Those who have experienced it know wh at a bummer it would be if w e were to lose rig ht through th is recreational bureaucr at i c an t i- m o t o r c y c le management on behalf of the Forest Service . Luckily , the Forest Service is very much interested in knowing our problems and n eeds instead of alienating themsel ves . You ca n help improve trail resources in t he area by becoming invo lved in vol u nteer conservation projects ranging from taking mileage of trails, to co mp le te trail restoration projects. Get to know the Forest Service and edu cate the m for o ur co ncern for the spo rt of motorcycling. All interested individuals and groups should contact me for more details .
