HANFORD, CAL., MA Y 2 Keeping the dust down was the major problem here at Hanford today. Wind and a very hot day took its toll of the track and 38 watering was necessary after about every two races. Paul Anderson (Yam) was the lead man of the 360-500cc Experts coming out of turn two of the first lap with Shawn Leipold (Hon) and Joe Brown (Yam) following. Leaving turn two of lap two, it was still Anderson at the point but Craig Scroggins. riding a lightning fast Yamaha twin, pinched Leipold and Brown on the outside to move into second. Down the back straight with Anderson and Scroggins side by side, Anderson held on to the first spot entering tum three, but Scroggins went to t he outside of tum fo ur and took the lead. Scroggins expanded his lead on the final lap and went on to the win with Anderson sec ond an d Leipo ld thi rd . The Mini Expert Main has become nothing less t han a grudge match between Bakersfield's Rob Ely and Tulare 's Mike' Garrison. Both riding Yamahas, it was Garrison taking a fairly good size lead leaving turn two, but down the back straight, Ely pulled up and made up the distance in no time flat. Garrison stayed in front all of lap two with Ely close behind waiting. Ely made his move down the back straight of lap three and had the lead entering turn three. In othe r mains, Ed Prince fired his Maico to the 360·500cc Novice & Junior co mb ined honors over David Hill (Yam) and Joe (Co ffee Can) Miller. Open Experts Frank Adamo (Yam ] and Sam Matthews (H-D) gave the cro wd a thrill with their long flying rooster tails and four lap dice-out which ended with Matthews first , • ripped. Frank Word from Grants Pass had his problems; he was more down than up. Hotshoe Brad Hurst went ba ck to Junction City with top dollars when he moved his CZ as fast as his lip . Albany 's Scott Miller powered his way from the Kids 100 C to the A Main figuring to go all th e way, like he usu ally does.After a restart that saw Cecil Arispe (151' takes a knock at indoor roller derby. Roseburg Indoor Short Track By Lynne Diltz ROSEBURG, ORE., APRIL 30 Midst a near-record amount of bikes, a full spectator area and a good deal of flap, Roseburg Indoor Sho rttrack ended its 75-76 season. Award jackets fo r season high points were to be given but they didn't arrive. Riders co mp lained about trying to make a TT out of that tin y indoor space and t he d og-leg was re mo ved befo re the Se mi Pro Main . There were crowded Mains to D in the Mint, 100 Kids, 125 and 250 classes and three eliminators, for the Semi Pro Mai n. And what a line-up that .was . Six of the eight sported a Q and a number of upsets resulted in action all around the track. John Wincewicz went down and was promptly hit; sustained nothing more than having the rear of his leathers former Mini star Andy Bruhn get caught in someone else's bike, Miller was held to a third by a pair of Dee's, Davis and Diltz, and on the white flag lap, got co rn ered to a fourth by Cliff Allen. Northwest Cycle Center-sponsored Scott Nelson won a 250 A Main shot and went the whole way despite all-out efforts on the part of Brett Howard • N ~ o z z > ..J
