as we ll as good handling as he posted
second fastest official qualifying time....
on Sunday morning behind Suzuki's
Roger DeCoster. Roger was trying new
Konis on the rear 0 f his 370. Third J
fastest man was Herbert Schmitz whose
factory Puch had been having seizing
problems during practice on Saturdayr"
Fourth was Maico 's Ake Jonsson , and .
fifth was Husqvama's Brad Lackey with'
a fresh engine just brought down from
Sweden to the ra ce. Brad had ra ced all'
the Internationals and the first two GPs~
on 0 ne engine. Willi Bauer, -Gem ~
Wolsink, Arne Lindfors. Christer
Hammergren and Paolo Piron were the
re maining top ten qualifiers.

Twenty -five thousand spectators
settled down on the lush hillside of the'
nicest course the ride rs have seen in a
long time. The lay out was excellent'
with no t a tire mark on it prior to the l
first p ractice. The circuit was staked ou t'
by the m o to clu b Ip pogrifo using only
the natural terrain an d the earth wasi
un touched by man or machinery . Th e'
surface was mo stly mowed grass.
