T he firs t ro und of the 125cc wo rld championship gave the Mo rbidelli pai r of Pirpaulo Bianchi an d Paulo Pileri , th eir antici pa te d vic tory. Bianchi has bee n to ld th at it's his year to win the crown, but the Morbidelli team had-a shock ea rly o n whe n Otello Buscherini on the revitalized Malanca split them for five laps. Later it was revealed that Pileri's engine had seized on one cylinder during this ti me, but he soon forced his way past Ore 110, to take a comfortable second. Angel Nieto soon found that his Bultaco is not yet quick enough when Bianchi lappe d him! Fourth an d fmal race. of the day w as th e sidecar even i . It was a classic in every sense o f t he wo rd, wi t h West German 's Rol f Steinhausen an d Werner Schwarzelthe stars. Schwarzel made a' supe r b start , with Steinhause n back in th ird pl ace. Rolf Biland moved through to thi rd p lace, but Schwarzel was still 20 seco n ds ahead of him afte r ni ne laps when Bilan d 's Yamaha motor boiled. That left Schwarzel to cope with Steinhausen, Ro lf closed the gap to just a second and a half, midw ay thro ugh the 30 lap event, but then tailenders made hi m lose contact with Werner, and .he had to start all over again to reduce a five second disadvantage. Seven laps from the end he took the lead, but with Schwarzelglued to his rear tire. The battle was ruined when Sch warze!'s Konig developed a m isfire th ree laps fro m the flag, and he droppe d back. Even before the Grand Prix started there was much activity and dissent. The Austrian organizers have a peculiar sy stem of selecting en tries. Several riders arrived with signed contracts, only to be told that the organizers had, in the meantime, changed their minds and sent a letter cancelling their start! Others, who had taken leaderboard places at the French GP, had to argue for hours to get a start, and needed the intervention of FlM official Jaap Timmer to sort things out. Confusion wasn't over, though, for it was said at first that the new FlM silencer rule wo uld be strictly enforced. But a jury meeting o n Saturday cha nged that order, and now riders have un til the Belgian GP in J uly to fit silencers. Unlucky Pa t Hennen was in tro uble for the second successive Grand Prix. After a great deal of arguing simply to be given a start, he was handicapped by a lengt hy delay in receiving AMA permission to race. Then ' after all that, his Suzuki RG500 seized on the pre-race warm up lap! • Sheene (7 ) and Read (2) line 'em up in an "anybody', race" 500 cliffhanger. Filtron employs the finest filtr8tioa media available. Reticul8ted foam construction with a p8tented grooY8 design work together to keep your engine de_ I and operating at pea:.: performance. Unlike some filten that only coat the outer surface with a veil of oil, Filtron impregnates the foam with a special oil compound through the full 314 inch depth Of filtering material. This deep oil/foam combination suspends and traps dirt perticles up to eight t imes smaller than any ordin.-y filter . This puls8ting action created by the convoluted groove design keeps the filtering channels clear by breaking up trapped inner dirt and flaking off the collected dust on the outer shell of the filte r. This action insures maximum air flow to the engine which in turn means better mileage and performance. More off-road riding enjoyment can be realized with other Filtmn products such as their specialty sock and pod-type filten and an .sortment of other riding eccessories, Fo r info'mo ti on on I ntl!rpart'~ complelll line of motoreyele prod UCU, send $2 .00 to Dept .
