Harold Vanhoy of Maryland made
the first mark for out-of-state riders by
taking a win the 175-200cc class. The
251-370cc class went to George
McGraw of Nebraska. All other class
wins were in the hands of the
Californians. Dick DeRosa took the
201-250cc class; Ro n Thompson the
371-500cc class; Jim Ellen berger walked
off with the win in the 501-0pen class,
be atin g out Vince Vins on by eight
inches.
l ~ Motorcycle hillclimbing is at a p eak
in California, bu t seve ral other states are
getting in on the action. Results sho wed
Utah,
winners
from
Mary land,
Ken tucky, North Dakota, Kansas, Te xas
and Neb raska. This is an indication that
the sport is spreading, arid it's a sure
sign that more of these riders from
"back east" will be coming back to the
Widowmaker next year. determined to
push the Californians back in the
standings.
