Probably the three most exciting and heartwarming classes run for the entire even t were t he Pee Wee classe s, the Powder Puffers an d the Race of Champions. Randy Mood y , riding . a t in y Indian , led the be gin ning Pee Wee rid ers around tlie track to take the o verall trophy whi ch was a good two fee t taller th an he Was. Ro y Smith led everybody ar ound the track in the Novice division except for the ecstatic mo th ers an d fathers who sp rin ted fro m co m er 10 co rn er. Brando n Schneide r had a very close bat tle with Miss Debbie Allred fo r the Expert division. Th e Powder Puff race was cl ose between Tracy Evans an d Barb ara Spielman in the first and third motos as the two riders were never more than two bike length s apart. Valerie Robledo clinched the nu mb er two trophy when Spie lman's bike developed tro uble in th e se cond moto , There wa s one d isqualifica tion in this class and that was for the lone male rider. The reason for his disqualifi cation was improper ridi ng apparel, or more accurately, lack of riding apparel. ' The Race of Cha mpions was the thriller as three of the "Gian ts of Mini cycling" battled i,t out to the last rnoto. A.J . Whitting wo n the first mo to by twelve seco n ds but dicing it out for second we re Brian Myer scough and Jeff Ward. The Ward -l\lyerscough battle was a see-s aw affair as the two r iders exchanged positions no less than seven times. In th e final two motos, these two riders exchanged firs t and second places fo r th e entire distan ce , and on the final mo to it was st ill a three way battle. Whoever won the last moto would be t he Ch ampion of Champions. Myers cough made the final mov e and when the flag fell it was Mye rs cough by a bike and a half. Myersco ugh had kept Ward, last year's Champ ion , from making it two in a row. He was n o w th e king . Besides th e trophies , three minicycles were presented along with n umer o us ot her co n t ingen cies. Brian l\Iyerscough took home the Honda and Suzuki motorcycles for his 83cc and Race of Champions wins plu s two of th e five foot . overall trophies. Flyi ng Mike Brown earned a Yamaha for his win in t he I 0 5cc class. Brown, upo n receiving the bike ann o unced that he would like it presented to one of his buddies who co u ld not afford a bike of his own to race, a very genero us gesture to say the least.
