In the 125 Expert class, David Daniels and Thomas James stay ea close all day but Daniels came out on top in both motos and overall Bobby Bullock rode two thirds to a third overall and Ronnie Foote moved into the fourth p osition with co nsistency. Robbie J ones smoked the 125 Intermediates on his Honda leaving Kirk Hanna to pick up second and Phillip Liberty in third. The 250 Intermediate class has had a recent influx of 125 and 100 riders . who have moved up and immediately dominated competition in that class. Mitch Mitchell, recently of the 125s, and· Troy Patterson from the 100s cap tured first an d second, and Rod n ey Randall, who recently acq u ired a new 250 mount was in th e thick of things until he broke his b ody. Dewitt Henderson dropped a 250 engine in to his 400 Yamaha frame and p ol ish ed off the 250 Novi ces leaving Bre tt Cooper and Ben Copelin iii sec ond and th ird. . • Results in Resul ts Section. The Experts were there too, only not as many as Colorado has available. The reason for this is not known as the weather was righ t on for a motocross event. The ones who were the re put on a su p er-fin e dirt show . . . . Fernyhough, G lasenapp , Smith, Todd, York an d on. .The afternoon program got off later than usual because of the huge turnou t of N ovice riders in all classes. The first moto saw Open A rider Bill Ferneyhough jump to an easy lead and hold i t all the way. Can't call Bill "Wild Man " anymore as he ran the sm oo thest that I've ever seen hi m run. Wayne York (Suz) chased h im , bu t b ack aways fo r a sec ond. The 250 As were nex t and Gary . Glasenapp made up his mind to whip by everyone on the first lap to take it , followed by Jack Todd on his Maico. Stacy Smith flew his Yam a flyer , with the new Speedo shocks, further than . any one else in moto one . . The second go-around was later in the da y than plann ed so it was decided to st agger start th e Open As and 125 As. Fernyhough did a repeat of his first act and used his patented lines to p lay out the finale , It was Ferneyhough first overall and York second. Mike Tarter rid ing af ter a coup le of y ears ' ab senc e pulled a highly cr editable th ird. _ S ta cy Smith styled fo r an impressive firs t overall on h is 125 Yamaflyer. The 250s came off th e line nex t and again Glasenapp did lii5 number for a first overall with Jack Todd picking up sec o nd. • 39
