OYer The Hili Gang survives Ponderosa By Lucious leRoy PONDEROSA, CAL., FEB . 22 Forty-six members of the Over The Hill Gang turned out for their first desert race of the year. It was also the first meet of the Northern . and Southern Chapters. The kids and wives were run on the same course, but were directed away from the sharp downhill. The course got very loose and choppy but the wives and kids all finished, not to be out done by their husbands and fathers. The ladies were led to the finish by Lady Janitor, followed by Lady Rotten and ., Lad y Toilet, In the 12 and over class, Torsten Corum fm ished first with Gopher Gene's, Steve, in second and Joe Mascola close behind. In th e under 12 class , the counterparts of Tac ky Tim , _ .came .in one and two with Doug Ford first and Mark Fo rd chasing him. We found some tired kids and ladies, but I don't think they 100 ked as bad off as some of the gang members. In the Expert class the South survived with Lanky Larry doing a superb job of riding in first, (He laid out the course.] Following was our guest. Bruce Conrad, and Dippy Del. 'on his prototype Ardvark got second place gold followed by the North's Horny Herb. The Amateurs were led by Janitor Jerry (a future sou th ern Expert). The North swept the next three places with Jaws Jon, Cheap Chuck and Ridiculous Rex finishing in that order. Diaper Dan, from the South. finished first in the Intermediate class, followed by the northern president, Dingus Dan , in second, Gopher Gene got a third place finish for the South.
