There is, in fact. an oak or tw o on th e "Hill" but th e cou rse wi nds ba ck and forth in a gentle valley devoid of trees, offering ideal spe ctating. Owner Dicky Clements an d crew have laid out a beans and balls circuit. wi th a ch op py. 60 mph downhill straight and power-sucking, long uphills. along with drops in and ou t o f the gullies. Texas hillclimbing season off to roaring start By Diane Polley DALLAS, TEX., FEB . 15 The 1976 Texas hiliclimb season started February 15 in Dallas at Luck y Landing with a few surprises, several new bikes and lots of visiting. The awar ds for the 1975 Championship Series were given out before the climb started and m os t The 1975 Texas Hillclimb Champions are planning on opening a t rophy sto re. Richard Reeves on top. Quick Eddie Roberts (Yam) started close to Dan ny, bu t droppe d his Mono in a hairpin after only half a lap . Reeves then too k ch ase position, bu t had to settle for a close second at m oto's en d. The final ro und saw Reeves p um ped and leading, forcing Doss to push a lit tle too hard and go down fighting for the lead on lap two.
