Wha t t he people here didn't know was that Dick, fro m Carson City, Nevada does t his every time he races in Nevada. There wa s only one serious cha llenge to hi s lead in the 250 class, and that was Dave Carlsen (Hus) who was moving up towards the end of t he race . Dick saw hi m and just turned it on . The Old T imers an d Powder Pu ffs had a class of their own an d r aced for one hour. An other surprise from Nevada came in the fo rm of a Powder Puff. Herm alene Wick (Su z). The Powder Puffs started o ne min u te behind the Old Ti m ers and Her malen e started about a minute after the Powder Puffs, due to a .loa ded up carb u retor, but she succeeded in pas sin g all t he Powder Puffs and a number of the Old Timers. As one Old Time r said. " That ch ick is fast." As the Young Timers keep moving in to the Old Ti mers class it be comes more and m o re competitive. Clo yse Ho lland, Sr . (Hus) turned in a ride that co uld have been in the top three of the Open Expe rt class. Hawley Slayton (Pen) taking a break fro m trials and enduro riding hung right in t here for a very credi bl e second. The 125 class did not have any Expe rts show up , so the sh ow was in the hands o f the Amate urs as D. Hart (Yam) and Phil Smith (Hus) offered some of th e bes t racin g of t he day . Hart led the ra ce m os t of the tim e, bu t Phil was right behind him waiting for t he mistak e • wh ich never ca me . KTMs invade Sprocket MX By Cosmic Cat & Co. three m oto s of the Open Experts. Top fin ish ers in the Old Tim ers were , Way ne Kin g (KTM) first , Terry William s (Pen ) se co nd, and Carl Casanova (Yam) th ird . Wrig ht zapped Lewis fo r se cond at the en d of lap one and the n st arted chasing Taylor, who had sin ce bu ilt up an eight bike length lead . Wright m ade up th e dis tance o n lap t hree . Tay lor thwar ted off attacks by Wright o n laps four and five, t he n com ing out o f the lower sec t io n of th e tr ac k, Tay lor was all by h imself. Wrigh t had crashed and ' lo st two positions to Randy Lewis and teammate Troy Stalling s. Wrigh t ca me ba ck sw in ging in the third moto takin g the chec ker s an d simp ly d usting everyone in t he process . Tay lor finished sec ond while Stallings got by Lewis on lap three for th ird.
