Th e n ew Su zuki o ver-the-co unter R G5 0 0 road racer is a fo ur-cylinder 500cc
two -stroke with f our rotary valves, fo ur Mikuni carbs, fo ur cran kshaft s and f our
throttle cables. Th e pri vateers' dream develops 100 hors ep ow er at 11 ,250 rpm wi th
pow er to the ground via a d ry type clutch and six sp eed tranny (seve n spee ds on wo rks
models). De Ca.rbon sho ck s and spok e wheels (cast allo y on w orks m od els) to p off the
racer. 58 R G50 0s were built with th e purchaser rec eiving f ou r cran ks haf ts, including
rods, rings and pistons, as well as clutch dis cs and gaskets for his spar es. Hu rley Wilvert
has alread y acquired one and Steve McLaughlin is said to be co nside ring purchasing
o ne also.
