Fin ally John put a wheel in and took both a bit wide, leaving Delacy still lo o king at Goar. It took t he last lap to m ake the pass and no chance for a shot at t he fast fleei ng Tavis. A sligh t ruckus developed in the pit afterward as little Tony Alves felt that the b ack markers had cost him a fourth . Hocking beat the pack out with Tonda lea d in g Scott Pearson and Chuck Miller . It was a Ho cking benefit as with ea ch lap, the $5 0 0 bonus , for grand slam ming the two nights just go t closer to the bank account. Miller go t under Pears on on the fourth lap as. T ar d iff un loaded at the other end of th e tr ack. By the ninth lap, Gennai had worked up to third an d Miller cra shed on t he sam e elbow as the n igh t b efore. Five laps later, Gennai stopped working hard on Tonda and Pearson on th e Jensen Cycles Suzuki to ok back fourth. Rick Delacy , the top rated short tracker in D·36, won the first heat with ease over Rich Oliver in the second fastest of the night. John Heeter to ok , t he third with McCaul second, w hile Gary Tonda did his routine in the second heat, taking Randy Scott w ho was riding Delacy's 250 Yamaha. Ted Davidson switched to the Pe te Pestoni Bul for tonight, leaving o ut a disgruntled Rob Morrison, and won the fourth heat over Paul Bostrom on the other Moto- Villa. Nick Nazzisi finally got a win together in the fifth heat over lovely Tammy Sess ions. Being good looking and a fast racer sets one 's hear t . a flutte r. On , t he first attempt at an Expert Main, it was Miller over Gennai and Davidson, but on the second lap, Rod 'Spen cer and John Heeter went down in a tangle in the number two corner. A restart produced the same o rd er in the first corner, b u t on the second lap Gen nai showed Miller the way and Chuck resigned hi mself to follow. At twelve lap s the only real ch an ge was in Frank Adamo running a close third over Davidson and McCaul. By this time the pack was starting to be lap ped and sure enough, with Gennai a good straight ahe ad he tried to go und er two back -rnar ke rs and fell. In the process of trying to extricate John, a young infield man pushed the motor up and o ut right into McCaul who tumbled, but received a nice assist from Gennai who later co m me n te d th at it ' was his fa ult th at Pat fell. Lots of yelling and pointing went on until th e chec kered as all kinds of riders fell on the last two laps. Hansen go t so excited when everyo ne was pointing to go faster that he thought he had won it. He very nearly did as Miller had troubles getting by a downed Ad am o and Ted Davidson was co nfused as to his spot. I The Owyhee Motorcycle Club of Boise , Idaho is gea ring up for the 1976 racing season by featu ring Sunday motocross. 'The day 's double winner was Kenny Gallegos who rode his tri ck ed out Elsie to dominate the 12 5 Experts ahead of Lou Alter, Jr. (Yam) an d John Stone (Hon). In the 250 Expert moto s, it was Gallegos aga in only this time o n a KX provided by the Kawasaki man in Salt Lake Cit y. Ga llego s lo o k nearly invincible on the track whether he rides o ne- two- fives or 250s. He's fast! An other sponsored rid er is Larry Buffington (Kaw) who put it to the Op en Experts. Larry's ha rd charging sty le caugh t th e eye o f the same man - w ho provides Ga llegos with bikes and Larry has a nice ride as a result. The Owyh ee Club's n ew presi dent, Howard Lee, and his bo ard have a lot o f go od things o n top for t his ' seaso n. I It didn't take long for Pat Richter to prove that 'he 's just plain, fast, no m atter what bike he's on. He had everyone co nvinced when he rode CZ; he co n firmed the fact recently on a bo rrow ed Honda, and now is re-confirming it on new ly ac q uired 250 an d 400 KTMs from Pacific Performance. Leading all four 250 and Open Expert motos b y a lo ng way , he went hom e a richer Richter with a kin g sized sh are of th e $118 5 purse. Dann y "Mago o" Chandler (KTM) and - Jim Lesniewski (Hus) were first o ff t he line in the first 125 Expert moto only to tangle whee ls and both go down. They m an aged t o get ba ck in to the race, bu t were way behind, racin g with each other ins t ead of th e pack which was bein g led by Robert Norton (Ho n ) and Rick Woodson (Suz). Woodson go t by Norto n and it wo uld almost have to hav e been called a ti e un t il Norton applied the p ressu re , regaining the lead when Woodson slipped out. AI Hall moved in to second with Woodson now running third. Lesniewski made h is comeback by taking the start of mota two and not crashing this ti me. He stayed 'o ut front all the way, being chased by Norton first , then by Jeff Watts (Hus) who moved well past Norton but still 'd id not get close enough to Lesniewski. Norton got the ove rall win . • Grants Pass indoor shorttrack benefit By Lynne Diltz GRANTS PASS, ORE.,JAN. 3 1 The _ Southem Oregon Motorcycle Asso ciation benefit for the high school band tri p was definitely a success, desp ite heavy opposition to the event. . Riders came from as far away as Eugene, Crescent Cit y and Klamath Falls to total 97 entries, a b undle for t llat sm all; tight track. There were fou r he ats of Minis , five heats of 10 0s and three in each of the other classes. One injury was re corde d when Medford rider Robbie Speck ta ng led in turn three with ano th er bike an d came out second best.
