That m oved J amie Avels (4 00 Yam ) up to third an d Jeff Wrigh t (25 0 KTM ) to fourth . Wright ha d cras hed three times o n th e firs t loop. Balentine had extended his lead over Brooks by the en d o f th e second loop and Tom ran o u t of gas just bef o re his pit, 'Seizing the en gine , but he still got going in second. On the last loop, Wright passed Avels. Jamie gritted his teeth ,. vowed that " all the KTMs aren't goi ng to beat me ," and passed Wright ba ck. J eff stayed right behind for most of the loop but the pressure on Avels let up after Jeff crashed . Balentine was in fo r the fin ish, af ter lapping all but the first th ree Begin ners. In at 15th, Chris Gray (25 0 Hu s) was first Novice . Ram on Lowe led the Sen io rs on the first loop , bu t Gus Paull came from ten positions bac k to lead the second loop. Nel so n quickly retaliated by repassin g Miller on the downhill, shutting th e door on Miller.
