Roeseler king of the Knights' round table By Dale Brown RED MOUNTAIN, CAL. , NOV 9 After a couple of Number One plates in the Trailbike class, and several 250 class wins, Larry Roeseler put it all together to win the Desert Knights' Hare'n Hound. 10 Roeseler (250 Hus ) was third to the bomb behind Ron Wright (400 Yam) and Cordis Brooks (250 Bul], The Knights ran the co urse up a tight uphill canyon immediately after the bomb, and spectators reported t hat the Amateurs and Experts looked like mass confusion, bikers allover the place. In contrast , the Novice passage through the canyon was quite orderly. Wright led much of the first loop, until the course neared Trona Road, where Brooks surged by and led into the pits. In the pits, Roeseler got by Wright and started to chase Brooks. The battle between Cordis and Larry on th e second loop was fierce. Check personnel on the loop said that neither was more than a few feet ahead of the other. Out in the gulleys and the rock-strewn sandwashes they passed each other back and forth, having a great time. But by the time they hit check six, ' Broo ks had a slight advantage. Shortly afterward the course went down a very steep sand hill, through a canyon, and then out for a fast run to the finish. Cordis had been running much of the second loop with a jammed throttle, the bike screaming wide-open. Going through the canyon it was too much and Cordis crashed. Roeseler flashed by and went on to win. Back in t he pack, Doug Winchell (400 Yam)" had moved up to challenge Wright . Doug got by once , crashed, got by again and crashed again . The third time, down a sandwash, Doug m ade it stick . Coming out of the aforementioned valley, Winchell saw Brooks trying to get his bike started.
