Roeseler king of the
Knights' round table
By Dale Brown
RED MOUNTAIN, CAL. , NOV 9
After a couple of Number One
plates in the Trailbike class, and
several 250 class wins, Larry
Roeseler put it all together to win
the Desert Knights' Hare'n Hound.

Roeseler (250 Hus ) was third to the
bomb behind Ron Wright (400 Yam)
and Cordis Brooks (250 Bul], The
Knights ran the co urse up a tight uphill
canyon immediately after the bomb,
and spectators reported t hat the
Amateurs and Experts looked like mass
confusion, bikers allover the place.
In contrast , the Novice passage through
the canyon was quite orderly.
Wright led much of the first loop,
until the course neared Trona Road,
where Brooks surged by and led into the
pits. In the pits, Roeseler got by Wright
and started to chase Brooks.
The battle between Cordis and Larry
on th e second loop was fierce. Check
personnel on the loop said that neither
was more than a few feet ahead of the
other. Out in the gulleys and the
rock-strewn sandwashes they passed
each other back and forth, having a
great time. But by the time they hit
check six, ' Broo ks had a slight
advantage. Shortly afterward the course
went down a very steep sand hill,
through a canyon, and then out for a
fast run to the finish. Cordis had been
running much of the second loop with a
jammed throttle, the bike screaming
wide-open. Going through the canyon it
was too much and Cordis crashed.
Roeseler flashed by and went on to win.
Back in t he pack, Doug Winchell (400
Yam)" had moved up to challenge
Wright . Doug got by once , crashed, got
by again and crashed again . The third
time, down a sandwash, Doug m ade it
stick .
Coming
out
of
the
aforementioned valley, Winchell saw
Brooks trying to get his bike started.
While glancing at this scene, Doug lost
the trail J
