The natu ral terrain track was mu ddy; that was for sure. For th e fourth race In the 1975 Trans -Avl A Series it was also cold with temperatures in th e forties , but close to five thousand spectators came o u t to see an American almost win . At the end o f th e second mota it was Ro ger DeC os ter, for the second week in a row, who rode his yello w works RM 370 Su zuki in t o winner's circle. Three Americans led Ro ger in pain ts go ing into the second mota , but the reigning 500cc World Champion in creased his points lead in th e Series by th e time the final mo to was ov er. To ny DiStefano. Jim Pomeroy and Brad Lackey all had a sh o t at the win, on ly t o lose sight of it through m echan ical breakup caused by a tr ack that was rougher than it loo ked. Fo r Tony DiStefano, the firs t mo to was the reigning 25 0cc National Champio n's chance to prove that he real ly could ride the big Su zuki as fast as everyone suspected. In fact , he rode it even faster then any one tho ught possible as he ran aw ay with the first moto , never letting his lead ge t less than 23 seconds over Jim Pomeroy , who was behind him in seco nd place . Tony's ra ceday ended in the seco nd m o t o when th e tr ack tore every sp oke o ut o f his re ar wheel. . For J im Po mero y, it was another bad week. After winning the o pen ing round o f th e Trans-AMA a t Ro ad Atl anta,J im has been in co n t en tio n fo r the win at every one o f the foll owing eve n ts as well, o nly to have mechanical difficulties put h im bac k. Jim tied DeCoster . in po in ts th is we ek fo r t he overall win. b ut Roger had a be tter finis h in th e fin al moto , wh ich gave the win to the Belgian rock eteer. He has yet to win a Trans-A.\I A and w ants t o very badl y. Despite a blown air fork seal d u ring th e first lap of t he first moto, Brad . b attled almost all the way with Pomeroy and then still managed to finish t h e mo to in third pl ace ah ea d of DeC o st er. No t wanting 10 ta ke any with the track break in g chances so me th ing o n h is Hu sky's su spension again during th e fin al mota, Brad backed off h is sp eed to fini sh fou rth. Playing it safe sti ll gave him third o verall. Su rvivin g all the carn age of broken wheels and suspensio n Was Ro ger DeCost er, but not by m uch . When he pulled in aft er winnin g the sec ond moto , there were four spokes alrea d y go ne from his rear w heel. Spokes arc like do minoes, wh en on e goes sna p th e rest so o n foll ow.
