icYCLB ~ g t l"l l' 0.36 Marysville MX By Rex Backman O'l ~ MARYSVILLE, CAL., SEPT. 28 Arn old Plant, Randy Losh and Rick Sutton were the Expert winners at today 's first motocross of the Yub a-Sutter Me three race Fall Series. Arnold Plant in the 125 class to ok seco nd behind Randy Stevens in mota o ne bu t won the final mota ahead of Jim Sylva (Hus) and Suzuki rid er Jon Bo y ette. Sylv a was second overall with h is consistent rides (four-two) with Boyette getting third. Randy Lash easily won the 250 class o n his Bultaco as he took firsts in both 20 minute motos with huge leads. Kevin Rockwell (Yam) took seco n d in round one and looked to be riding to another second in round two but tired, eventually finishing fourth for third overall. Delno Becker, riding with skill and a little luck managed to grab second overall. Delno was fourth in the first mot a . When Ken Sisler, Larry Ripp enkroeger, and Danny Garland ta ngled , Becker swept b y the fallen rid ers for second in the second mota. Maico rider Rick Sutton had little co m pe titio n in the Open Expert class. Rick won th e first m ota rather easily an d cruised to a third behind Ken Sisler an d Jim Mcainton in round two. Brad Deitrich led the firs t m o ta of the second division 125 Novices from star t to fin ish . The interesting point abou t him is th at he rides a 125 Maico. . We do not see many ro tary valve Maico s in northern California. It easily pulled every bike in th e class and tracked quite straigh t over the many huge whoops. If it were not for crashes in ro un d two Brad would have taken the overall. _ Results in Results Section. Act ion under th e bridge -125 Novice Div. II winner Dave Kindelt (47 9) already has a holeshot at th e " E" St. mot ocro ss circuit. Another guy with a huge lead in Marysville's 0ยท37 MX: 250 Expert Randy (970) Losh . Alex Jorgensen (e-A) made his win look easy in the 250 Expert run. He simply got in front at th e start and stayed there in the first mota, an d in th e second it go t a little more . interestin~ when he lost his lead to Mike Jennings (e-A). Jennings held Jorgy off until the white flag wa s out, but took the checkered second. In the first mota, Jennings had John O'Connell trying at the last mi nute to take the seco nd spot aw ay from him, passing the flag side by side for a photo finish . O'Connell was third th at time and in the second mota as well, although he had at one point gotten by Jorgensen briefly. Results in Results Section. Kevin Henry takes double at Dixon By Sallee Hilton DIXON, CAL. , SEPT. 14 Kevin Henry left his 250 Bultaco at h ome and rod e 125 and Open class on Buls, winning both. Ted Rogers (Hus ) won th e first 30 Open mota afte r Brady Farris (Mai) got the hole shot and was bumped from th . lead in the second lap by Rogers who ' ~ had .moved up rapidly from fourth or fifth . Meanwhile, Henry was turning it on behind the front runners. In lap four Henry got by Farris and spent the rest of the mota challenging Rogers, but. not su cceedi ng. Dick Mann (BSA) also had a bad start and spen t the race trying to make up for it as he wo rked in to a fo urth place finish. Dave Myth en (Bul) had passed Mann earlier and the pai r of them moved up to gether, My th en taking third. Farris had been lost along the way and finished seventh. The second mota hole shot was also Farris's, but he couldn't hold out against Henry and Rogers who made a two man race of their own way ou t front. Again Mann was way back and mavin ' on , taking four spots in one lap , but only making it to fifth when he couldn 't get by My then and Richard Buttner (Yam) . Henry took th e first place cash, and Rogers second. Mike Hersman (Han) had the first 125 Expert mota all to himself, leading fro m wire to wire but bein~ pushed hard by Cloyse Holland Jr. (Suz) for most of the ra ce. Holland dropped back from Hersman the last coup le laps showing co ncern over th e bac k end of hi s bike. Whatever th e pro blem was, it didn' t kee p him from fin ishing secon d. Henry came up from tcnth to fin ish thi rd, wi th Silva second, then first By W. H. Spencer FREMONT, CAL ., SEPT. 14 The Dynamic Duo of J ohn Silva and brother-in-law Tim Navarro finally got stopped in the 250 class of marathon Madness at J im Lesniewski (Yam) following all the way from eleventh to fourth . Hersman again got the hole shot and built a goo d lead from it in the second mota , but half way through he suddenly dropped back to sixth an d Pat Wilson (Ha n) took o ver as front runner, Henry right behind him. Wilson only lasted two laps when he crashed co ming off the big jump, leaving it to Henry. Well behind Henry , but in second place was Dave Wood (Yam ) an d Bill Swar tz (Yam) with Her sman co ming back up for the fourth . Fremont Racew ay by Can -Am teammate, Ron Huffman. Huffman is off the circui t of Pro MX, home in the Santa Clara Valle y and out having fun. He led from lap seven until the end, after a dice with Buddy Robinson o n a little Suzuki. Huffman rode a very re laxed race and it nearly cost hi m the overall on the last two laps when he had slowed considerably, ju st taking it easy . Silva caught up with the on e lap sign out. Huffman th ought he had put a lap on the field bu t figured that in this case, - valor came first and so he gassed the Bike World motor b ac k up. Dan Castelhano rode a tough rac e for third on the same lap but h ad on e long gas stop th at cost him second. Scott Webst er led out the 125 class bu t co uld hold it for only two laps as motocro ssers Ran dy Ok ada and Glenn
